If you haven't tried this place you need to. Collard greens and Mac and cheese was amazing as well as the catfish and sweet potato pie. Everything was homemade. I wish I remembered the servers name, I think she might have been the chef to, she was sweet. Ill definitely be back to try the other items

Home cooking and the atmosphere makes you feel like your home. Local & family owned it marks the spot and has become a Topeka fav upon opening the doors. Casual, affordable, and delicious.

Edited to respond to owners. Thats a lie I have doordash receipts to prove it. Terrible unseasoned breakfast. Small portions for the prices. Would never recommend this place. Yolk house or cooks American grill are 100% better then this joke of a restaurant. And as far as coming back trying it again I wouldn't waste anymore of my money for same experience.

Have eaten here a couple different times and the food and service are always excellent. Wonderful catfish, smash burger, greens, and Mac & cheese! Brandon is great and very attentive and accommodating. Not sure what kind of magic is going on in the kitchen but after eating felt fueled rather than over full, and that in no way takes away from the flavor!!

The food was delicious , homemade soul food! We met the chef and she was a delight.
And we ordered
A 10 oz catfish filet and it was true to size and the fry was gluten free .
2 orders of Mac and cheese , homemade super cheesy and well seasoned
An order of green beans and cornbread which was warm when it got to the table.
And this was all one meal we split between two people for $17.50 or $18.
The food that we did receive was excellent -
However ,
We were not able to fully order everything we wanted. Some items were sold out of the menu, such as the collard greens and the cheesecake.
The deserts are made daily so availability is limited for them too but we got the carrot cake which was also delicious.
The icing wasn’t too sweet and it had pineapple in it so it was great.

If you haven't tried Shoppers Kitchen, I strongly urge you to go. It's a family run restaurant that definitely knows how to cook great food. I love the collard greens, so tasty. They are now serving wings and I have yet to try them, but they sound delicious. They are not frozen wings, they are made fresh for you. So that's next on my list. The catfish is what I ordered last and it was great. Go give them a try, I think you'll love it as much as I do.

The grilled cheese cheeseburger and fries were flavored really well. The dining area was very clean. The employees were very pleasant and warm with their greetings. I'll definitely come back!

The friendliest owner/employees. We had the fried chicken dinner with mac 'n cheese and collard greens with cheesecake for dessert. I can't say enough about how delicious it all was. We will 100% be back SOON! We want to try everything on the menu! 😊

I was impressed! Great parking, wonderfully clean and Brandon is the server, greeter, cook is premire.
I chose a 3 piece chicken dinner. Corn bread and 2 sides. ..Mac n cheese and green beans. Mac n cheese is the bomb. Beans are perfect. Cornbread with a little sugarless syrup works. Chicken is crispy on the outside and holds the tender moisture in. I showed Brandon, it is finger licking sweet soul GOOD.
