Subject: Concerns Regarding Service Experience at The Roasterie, Westwood
To the Management and Corporate Leadership Team,
I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding a recent visit to your Westwood, Kansas location. As someone who appreciates The Roasterie’s commitment to quality craft coffee and values the aesthetic appeal of your space, it is disheartening to report that my experience was entirely overshadowed by the unprofessional conduct of your staff.
During my visit, I was met with what I can only describe as an atmosphere of indifference. Despite being polite and patient, I felt entirely ignored and unseen by the team on duty. On several occasions, I observed staff members prioritized personal conversations and engagement with their phones over assisting customers. Even when I attempted to initiate a service interaction, the lack of acknowledgment was jarring.
I have visited many coffee shops and rarely, if ever, have I encountered such a dismissive approach to basic customer service. It is a shame that such a beautiful environment is being diminished by a team that appears disinterested in their responsibilities.
I am sharing this feedback in the hope that it reaches leadership who can address these service standards. I believe it is important for management to be aware of the culture currently present at this location, as it falls far short of the experience one expects from The Roasterie.

The lady who took our order was incredibly rude and unpleasant. Either she was homophobic or was just hating her shift. The coffee was also mid. Honestly just pick a struggle. Either be rude and have good coffee or be kind and have mediocre coffee.

I’ve always enjoyed the Roasterie. The service at this location was great. As you walked in your welcomed. This location is large and roomy. I ordered a double shot of espresso, a cappuccino and an almond croissant. The croissant was not fresh, flaky in the middle but very dense and almost hard at the ends. I expect to be able to easily pull a croissant apart - this was not easy. It tasted great and the almond frangipane was delicious but it was just all together too dense for a croissant. My espresso was fine, a little too bitter for my taste. I had slight sweetness, almost no acidity and plenty of bitterness. Strangely my cappuccino was fantastic. Smooth, velvety and well balanced - what I was hoping for with the espresso.

My stop at The Roasterie Woodside Café was a great coffee break. The smell of freshly roasted beans hits you right away, and the café has a relaxed, airy feel. My latte was smooth and rich, and the breakfast bite paired perfectly. It’s a cozy spot to slow down and enjoy really good coffee.

The Cappuccino tasted like straight water. The muffin is too sugary and the Chorizo was mushy. The one at KU is way better. $40 down the drain.

infuriating. every single thing I ordered (like 6 things) came completely incorrect or not at all. service was non-existent!!
