Called at 830 to order some food could not get through called for 10 minutes and they didn’t answer the phone. I drove all the way up there and made it there at 8:50 10 minutes before closing and they got the doors locked mopping the floors a business closes at nine that means 9 o’clock you’re supposed to close and then break down and mop the floors and clean up. That’s poor customer service when customers come a quarter till and the business is closed. I don’t understand that 9 o’clock means 9 o’clock very unprofessional.

I used to live in Derby and frequently ate at Emperor's Japanese Grill Derby. While I prefer the Derby location, Emperor's Japanese Grill East also has very good food, good service, and a good atmosphere, with plenty of seating if you want to sit and enjoy at the restaurant.

Showed up tonight at 8:35 pm., Saturday, April 12th. As we pulled into the stall at the front door, the lights went off, and the three employees inside turned around and stared at us. One female employee put on her jacket as they stared at us. We watched to see if the business lights might come back on as it was 25 minutes before closing but they DID NOT so we left. Disappointed. Service and food quality has gone downhill at this location. Derby location has always been and continues to be excellent.
We didn’t eat there tonight, but in the last year the food quality has not been as good here. However, it’s close and fairly good when open.

Got home with takeout from there, one of the egg rolls was so over cooked it was burnt, I broke it open and grease ran out. Nasty! The rest of the food was ok.

I have been here several times before and always get the same thing. Shrimp fried rice. Today it tasted off. Very bland and not the flavors that are usually there. Also getting lazy on removing all of the vein is disappointing. This was my last meal from here.

Emperor's grill has been a part of my childhood into my adulthood and I have never had a bad experience. The food is always amazing and so good for the price. This place is always my go-to when I don't want to cook or when I'm craving fried rice. The atmosphere is chill and good for either sitting in or dining out. Highly recommend.

Somehow with a crowd of 7 in the building they decided to rush through my order at 730pm when closing time is 9pm because they were hungry and wanted to rush through their service. So for two parties they distributed horrible service.
