I don’t normally leave reviews so bear with me. I have dined at Larkspur on a couple handful of occasions. I have great memories of this restaurant because my wife and I had our wedding reception in the banquet room.

Last night might be the last time we dine at this restaurant. Staff was helpful and did a decent job. Drink order came out late with our salads. Wasn’t upset with the waiter he made a mistake it happens. My Caesar was not great I didn’t eat half of it because it made up of yellow and white stalks of lettuce. I like my salads green unless it is potato salad. My entree Steak Arrbiata with fettuccine was great. Only critique would be it could have used more beef or mushrooms. It was a great dish.

So how did dinner go sideways? We had the privilege of a table neighbor bringing a purse dog in who barked repeatedly through our meal. Every time the dog felt like it needed more food the dog would bark incessantly while the owner gave it no mind as it barked. Not sure when this became okay to bring your pet to a restaurant but it is not an establishment I will go back to.

Makes me feel like an old man saying “Get off my lawn”. The thing is I have a dog and think of her as an extension of my family. To subject other patrons to this seems rude and inconsiderate of others and their hard earned money on an above average dinner bill.

Then again maybe I am out of line and this is a new normal for society as a whole.

After having a couple beers at the house, I felt the hunger pains setting in. I couldn't make a decision on where to go, so I headed to Old Town, where plenty of restaurants are located. I decided on Larkspur where I haven't been in some years. I noticed they changed the menu up some since my last visit and I had a difficult time deciding what to order. I ended up choosing the Chicken Pistachio, and a Creamy Broccoli soup to start with. I'll be honest, this was one of the best meals, if not THE best meal I've had in a long time. It's hard to describe, but the soup was the perfect consistency with the right amount of butter. I haven't had soup this good in ages. I can't get over how good it was. After overly enjoying my soup, I was excited to see how the Chicken Pistachio would turn out. It was exceptional to say the least. I enjoyed every bite I took. The butter cream sauce made the dish hands down. Even the mashed potatoes were out of this world. I had lots of garlic and of course, MORE butter. The olive oil that came with the bread was pretty f'ing amazing. I used to think George's French Bistro was my favorite restaurant, but after the meal I had today, Larkspur is close competition

Almond trout was a nice light meal before a show. The appetizers and other meals were delicious also. Service was wonderful. A long standing lovely local space that should be visited more often.

I am a long time Wichita resident who spent 19 years in various locations in the US. Recently two friends and I totally enjoyed a re-visit to this local gem and have vowed to spread the word and to return often. Our excellent lunch was presented with speed and care and an amazing amount of attention. The broccoli soup was the best….thick and creamy and the beet salad was uniquely delicious. Our waitress was darling, efficient and attentive.
Truly the lengthy history of quality food served in a lovely atmosphere is impressive. We all vowed to return soon and bring friends who will appreciate this venture into fine dining.

Wonderful place. Delicious food. We came twice for lunch. Gregory took good care of us. Will be coming back next time I am in Wichita.

Vegetarian options: The pasta with portobello is delicious.

Wheelchair accessibility: It's a ramp on to the restaurant and wide doors.

Larkspar bistro& bar has been mine and my husband's favorite place to go. The chicken pistachio dish was by far the best we've both ever had... until this last weekend. Chicken was tough and asparagus was a joke and garlic potatoes cold and salty. I asked if
there was a different chef. Yes ma'am I was told by the waitress. Very disappointed with the new chef. I wish I knew the old chef went. I would love to follow him. He's excellent. They need to bring him back and pay him what he is worth. Makes me sad because this really was one of our favorite places to go. Okay

I always love a good pork chop and this was great. An overly generous portion; so plenty of leftovers. Dessert looked great, but we were too full. Will definitely return the next time I make a trip to Wichita!

Upscale yet casual Bistro. Good wine and liquor selection. My server was very pleasant and accommodating.
I started out with fried calamari; nice thick hand breaded strips with a flavorful dip sauce. I followed it with a Caesar salad. It was a little bigger than I would have liked, but it was quite tasty. My entree was the braised beef short rib in red wine jus with buttermilk whipped potatoes and sauteed hericot vertes. The ribs were falling apart tender and the sauce a wonderfully savory compliment. I should've asked for extra . The potatoes were creamy and flavorful; topped with fried onions and the beans were perfectly al dente. It was a very good meal and I will definitely eat here again next time I am in town.
