I’d been searching for good fried chicken in Wichita for about a month and ended up at Stroud’s today. Hands down the best fried chicken in western Kansas IMHO. Pan fried. Fresh. The meat was tender and the skin was crispy and savory. The mashed potatoes were clearly handmade and were light and fluffy. Had a three piece, left with tomorrow’s lunch, with tip and it was under $30. Honestly had a terrific time and the meal was excellent. Only a slight ding on service and atmosphere. My waitress was very friendly and gave great service but I waited a little too long for my check and Togo box while she chit chatted with another customer at their table. Inside looked like a ski lodge and getting to the front door was a bit of an adventure as you have to wind through a walkway. The entire building feels big and kind of a maze.In no way would that keep me from going back and the food and price more than made up for these relatively small critiques.A+
Sit down at 6pm order around 6:15 pm . Didn't get the food until 8pm.

Strouds has been running ads on 97.9, (B98) . They are advertising their family chicken dinner for 59.95. I have not been there before but decided to try their advertised special. Guess what folks, they informed me the advertising was a mistake and this meal was $69.95! I thought about just not picking it up but went to the restaurant and was going to explain again I had just heard the advertising again within the last hour. The cashier said it was a mistake and could not adjust my price I was charged!! I will be calling the better business bureau and filed a complaint and also contacted B98 FM. This is False Advertising in every way!!! Instead of a new customer they now have a battle on their hands! The purpose of advertising is to get customers and keep them! How about hey there is a mistake in the radio commercial but we will honor the price. We hope you enjoy the meal and come back soon?Update as of Tuesday. After many complaints and calls I was finally given to Kevin the manager. He told me to come in and he would refund the overcharged amount. He also said this commercial had been running 6 months. Why??? I collected my $10.70 and left. I never want to think about this place again!

I am just obsessed with their loaded mashed potatoes this very good waitress I had when dining in for the first time tonight. Kaley was so upbeat, professional and recommended a lot of good dishes. Amazing food and phenomenal service. I’ll be coming back! ?

We got there right at opening and were sat immediately. I don't know if they're understaffed or what but service was SO S L O W! It took forever to get drinks and order an appetizer. And the appetizer was just dumped on the table without any plates and there was so way to share. Our server finally came back and we were able to ask for some. Again our server disappeared and it was forever before we could order our food. I understand it takes a while for food to arrive but salads took a while after ordering. The food is fine. It's obviously made in house and fresh, but it lacks seasoning and flavor. The chicken fried steak was soggy and the crust needed better flavor. The steak was fine. For what you get and the service this place is WAY over priced. We also didn't receive any dinner rolls which they list in the menu. Our server didn't return until we finished our meals so we didn't ask about them. There are rips in the carpet and generally the place looks old and unkempt. If you want to spend that much money please go elsewhere.

Stroud's? If you didn't know it was there, you wouldn't know it was there! Tucked away off N. Hillside, north of K96. Heard the fried chicken was good - Stroud's didn't disappoint! Can tell it is a favorite with many locals. Saturday night was packed out! Family style, with green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, etc. Kind of what Grandma would serve you. Tasty everything. Service was good. Portions were generous. Cinnamon roll bonus. On the less than positive side, the walk in from parking was a bit 'exotic'; like "Watch your step." and "Where the heck is the entrance?" Also, this establishment is pretty dated... clean, but dated. It's casual, not upscale, just so you know. Not about the ambience here, it's more about the food! Winner, winner... chicken dinner. Recommended, but casual attire will be appropriate.

They say they close at 8 pm so we arrive at 7:40. They tell us the kitchen closed at 7:30 so we could not be served. Either post your closing time at 7:30 or keep the kitchen open until 8.
