My wife and I spent a couple of nights in the Chapeze Suite at the Kentucky Bourbon House. When we first arrived, we were charmed by the historic feel of the place and also pleased with the amenities. Nice bathroom and furnishings. The owners added hospitality by having a full coffee service, snacks, and some cereal for a light breakfast. The house is also right on the central circle in Bardstown, so walking to restaurants was very convenient. However, this house is right on the main thoroughfare in Bardstown, and less than 50 ft from the road. The constant traffic noise made it very difficult to sleep, as the bed is located right next to the window facing the street. On Saturday, the noise was constant until after 2:30 am and on Sunday the noise did not abate until after 12:30 am. Each morning the noise started again about 6 am. This was a constant barrage of loud mufflers, pickups and diesel trucks. There is also a traffic light out on the street so we heard these noisy vehicles accelerating from the light. If you have an issue with noise at night I recommend that you investigate other properties. At over $200 per night with taxes and fees, I don’t feel that we got good value.

We spent four nights in the Bourbon Cottage. Great location, great cottage. We were walking distance to restaurants and night life. The hosts provided a great list of things to do. The cottage was central to many distilleries and other places to visit. I highly recommend a stay at the cottage! (walk across the street and get a YumYum)

My wife and I stayed here on August 24th for a special weekend. I read the reviews and there was one concerning review about the cleanliness of the cottages. We decided to take our chances because other reviews were great. We got there about 3pm to check in. A welcome note and keys were waiting for us. Not only was the cottage was spotless it had so much character. It was just what we were looking for and walkable to downtown. We would absolutely recommend the Colonels Cottage Inn's and look forward to our next visit to Bardstown Kentucky.

They are now a bed and breakfast so save the trip unless you plan to make reservations.

The bourbon course and tasting session is just OK and it could be run in thirty minutes without the waffle and rambling and not the actual two hours. What I do object to as a tourist is getting ripped off, especially in the United States and in a part of the country known for its hospitality. We were sent on the advice of the Colonel and his wife to Toddy's liquor store (run by best friend of the Colonel's wife) nearby, with a couple of bourbon recommendations. What were presented as rare and difficult bottles to buy were outrageously marked up and as it turns out readily available elsewhere. Case in point the Eagle Rare sold to us for $79.95 and available for $34 at Buffalo Trace. There was even the charade of storing the bottles on the top shelf behind the counter. The irony is that these people would expect to be treated with honesty and fairness when they themselves are tourists.

LOVED the cottage. It was big enough that five adults did not feel crowded and the decorations were lovely. A few snacks and baked goods were provided, though we ate our weight next door at Hadorn's Bakery and didn't have room left to eat them! We stayed in the Bourbon Cottage which is bright blue and on the corner of Flaget; you could walk pretty much anywhere and had a few great restaurants within two blocks. The house has a large dining room, kitchen, one bathroom and a front room along with a bedroom that features a queen size bed and another room that features two twin beds. We all slept great and Margaret went out of her way to take care of us. It's five stars from me!

My son and I attended the Bourbon University at the Kentucky Bourbon House. The Colonel and Margaret Sue were very knowledgeable about bourbon and were extremely gracious. We tasted 14 different types of bourbon and 1 Tennessee whiskey. The Colonel told us about bourbon history, the difference of wheated bourbon, what makes bourbon sweet or spicy and the different types of bourbons. We were served a charcuterie board about half way through the class. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and learned a lot about bourbon at the Bourbon House with the Colonel and Margaret Sue.

My husband and i stopped in for one night, what a great place to stay. Such a quaint town, and the cottage we stayed in was absolutely fantastic. The innkeeper was such a sweet lady, she went out of her way to make sure our stay was perfect. Sheets and towels were fresh and smelled bleachy clean, just like at a nice hotel. The bathroom was very spacious, double sinks and a beautifully tiled shower, all very clean. There were nice light fixtures throughout most of the home. The bed was very comfortable, lots of nice pillows. We didn't even turn on the 2 Tv's. Some of the sitting room furniture could use an update. The full kitchen would be great for a group looking to cook there. The farmers sink was old and stained, but that was the only kind of icky thing there, but we could tell they scrubbed and cleaned it daily. There are beautiful bistro patio lights strung up on the side porch if you wanted to spend a little time outside, and it's right downtown! Walking distance to most Bardstown things. It's an old house and you can tell it has a very rich history. I can't vouch for any of the other locations from this proprietor, but THIS one was awesome. I will recommend it to everyone.
