We decided to take a drive out to the lake, and my husband asked if I wanted an ice cream.
I ordered a cone for us to share, but being a holiday weekend, they were super busy, and ran out.
All they had were ice cream sandwiches. I bought 1 to share, and the gal said $8.
Initially, I thought that was quite a bit for an ice cream sandwich, but I paid without hesitation.
I’m happy to support local businesses.
Then she handed it to me, and that baby was HEAVY!! Vanilla & chocolate ice cream between 2 huge chocolate chip cookies, then rolled in crushed butterfinger candy. They make them themselves.
We shared it, and it was so rich & delicious!!!
(I’m glad they ran out of regular ice cream. :)
The gal that waited on me was super sweet & helpful.
Get that $8 ice cream sandwich!! You won’t regret it.

But I’m confused why it has two names, Captain Jim’s and Boyd’s Boathouse. Which is correct?

Under new management, this place is going to be so great!! We are a regular of the parent location (Boyd’s Tavern), and the food and ambiance is fabulous. We are super excited to try this new location!

The fish is so delicious ? and the coleslaw!!! It is a bit over priced in my opinion though. The fries not that great. However, the menu has tons of options. The staff is friendly and the woman that works at the marina is so amazing can't think of her name, but she knew what food was amazing & she was right. Definitely recommend the fish if you like fish you'll love it.

The fish sandwich was huge and hot but didn't come.With tartar sauce that on or on the side. They were busy but should have expected it being.This is the 4th of July week.Service was kind of slow and it.Funny thing is if you busy you think the food would be fresh , the fish was great. Service was kind of slow and the funny thing is if you're that busy you think the food would be fresh. The fish was the Chips tasted like they were made. 3 days ago they were robbery, cold and terrible.

Our first visit to Captain Jim's Grill, and probably the last. We arrived at about 6:30PM on a Friday evening. First, We were not expecting outdoor seating at picnic tables. Maybe I didn't read the description well enough. The picnic tables had not been cleaned. Ours had some sticky globs of stuff. I wiped it off with a napkin. Only one of the four dishes delivered to us was correct. Three of us in our party ordered Fish and Shrimp. One was missing the fish, two were missing the hush puppies. The fish was slightly over cooked. In my opinion, the best part of the meal was the white beans. Condiments such as Catsup were scattered around different tables, but none at our table. Most appeared to be almost empty anyways. We asked the server for some Catsup but she forgot to bring any. In general, not a pleasant dining experience for a Friday evening.

The food tasted good, when we finally received our complete orders! But, of 4 meals, only 1 was complete when delivered to our table. One shrimp and fish basket had no fish. 2 shrimp and fish baskets had no hush puppies.

I love sitting on the lake an watching the boats come in and out. I only had the fried mushrooms this time but boy were they great! The kids loved their fries and chicken strips and my mother in law had a wonderful grilled chicken salad kind of sad I didn't get that myself! The staff were all so kind and sweet that it made the trip even more enjoyable. Only problem is the tables aren't very handicap friendly as my grandma in law had a hard time sitting at picnic tables because she can't lift her legs high enough to get into them. But honestly that's just a small issue nothing too terrible. Thank you for a wonderful mothers day with good food and a perfect view.
