I continue to be happily impressed by the Riverside Deli. Or maybe I should give credit where the credit is due, and simply say thanks to Michael and Charlisa Woodward for their exemplary management strategies. They have taken this tiny space and utilized every nook and cranny without over-crowding. Personally, I appreciate buying deli meats and cheeses that arenāt cut until Iām standing at the counter ordering them. The meats and cheeses are always fresh and cut to my specification instead of some arbitrary industry standard. I think Michael and Charlisa have given Cloverport a modernized āMom and Pop Shopā.
Donāt forget the handmade deli sandwiches and the view of the Ohio River from which to eat them. My favorite is a veggie sub made to my specifications, a bag of Miss Vickieās kettle chips, and a place to sit on the back deck to watch the river meandering past. If Iām taking my sub home to eat, I usually buy a dessert to have later. Everything Iāve ever tried has been great.
Caveat alert! No business, no matter how wonderful the management or product, can last without customer support. Sometimes itās difficult during these economic hardships to allow ourselves, what we might consider, the indulgence of eating out. But, if you think about it, itās less expensive than buying all the ingredients of that Veggie Sub I love so much, storing the leftovers, and hoping I can figure out how to use them before they spoil. Just let Michael and Charlisa worry about that part. You can buy any sandwich from the Riverside Deli for under ten bucks without the worry or the clean up.
