Amrit Cuisine of India

For the record this was the first time I had tried Indian food. So, I'm not sure if it was just me or if the food was generally gross. So please don't use my review to base your own opinion.
I will start with the positives.
It smelled amazing. The people there were really sweet. The seating area was extremely clean.

Not so positive. (Keep in mind it was my first experience with food of India)
The food was very strong! Bold even. I personally felt it all had the same bold flavor. The chicken was a a deep red color, had a very odd taste. I had something in a soup form only to figure out it was a tofu. Which had it been labeled I would have avoided.
When we first arrived, we went in an had to wait on someone to come to the counter. To be told to help yourself. So we did. Got our food. Sat down, was never offered a drink of any kind, so I had to walk back to the counter to ask for water. Where there was a bit of a language barrier. Then when we got ready to leave, we went to scrap the plates and stack them when some guy starts saying, "miss, no no no." I turned around and he was waving for me to give him my plate, which still had food in it. He takes the plate and goes into the back. Now, I just can't figure out..why would you not want it scrapped into the trash? Why take it in the back were no one can see what your doing with the left over food. I understand that most buffet style restaurants typically take your plates in the back to scrap. But, we had NO ONE even come get our plates... so that just felt weird.
I paid $30. For 2. Lesson learned. I won't be returning.

Amazing food, the garlic naan specifically was a step above others that I've had. Goat Korma was very well spiced and incredibly tender.

The staff doesn't understand English the best but it gets the job done and they were incredible friendly!

The building is an old Arby's without any changes to the original setup or furniture, but somehow it fits the Indian feel perfectly.

The food here is delicious! I’m a big fan of Indian food, and used to live in the Richmond area and really missed having Indian as a food option. This is so much better than many of the restaurants in Richmond/Lexington area! Go in and get a menu and dine in! The staff are wonderful!
