I took five business associates to Libby’s Southern Comfort for dinner this evening. As always, the service was very good — friendly, attentive staff and a comfortable atmosphere. It was a nice night overall, and the team did a solid job taking care of us.
The food, however, didn’t quite meet the standard I’ve come to expect from Libby’s. The word almost everyone at the table used was “salty.” No major complaints beyond that, but it was noticeable across multiple dishes.
Since it was Ash Wednesday, I ordered the fish and chips special. Given that it’s the start of Lent, prime fish fry season here in the Midwest, I was expecting it to shine. Unfortunately, the portion of fish was quite small (slightly larger than a fast-food filet), and it was a bit dry and rubbery. The shoestring fries also seemed like they had been sitting for a while. Overall, the dish felt more like an afterthought than a seasonal feature.
No one had a terrible meal, but it wasn’t memorable in a good way either. That’s disappointing, especially since I chose Libby’s to host business associates. When it’s on its game, this is a place I feel confident bringing colleagues and clients. I just wish tonight had reflected the level I know they’re capable of.
I’ll be back, but I’m hoping for a return to form next time.

What a treat! My friend and I ventured down from Ohio and boy are we glad we did. Libby's was a true 5/5 experience. Our waitress was extremely friendly and recommended the fried chicken skins which turned out to be one of the best things we had each ever eaten. I also got the Oyster Po-boy which was perfection on bread. We will absolutely be back. I adored the interior and decorations which made the small restaurant seem much larger than it really is.

Everything here was the best it could have been. Fresh, perfectly fried oysters, delicious arugula, fresh tomatoes etc. I don't think I could say something negative if I tried. Prices were in-line with other restaurants but the food quality was well above average so I can't knock it there either.

If you're eating out in 2026 or beyond, make it a quality restaurant like this one and skip the fast food.

We visited Libby's for an early valentine lunch. I didn't realize they didn't have their valentine menu at lunch time. I wanted the muscles. The waitress made it happen for us and they were delicious. The rest of our lunch was very good too

Only thing that might be better than their food is their customer service! And they extend that service to taking care of the community! Truly, one my favorite places to eat EVER!

We had Oysters to start. Before I knew what was going on I was swallowing one that smelled like poo. I drank 2 Manhattans to mask the taste. It ruined my meal. My actual meal was shrimp and grits served in a small bowl. I had to maneuver around a small soup bowl to cut off the hard shell/tails and put them on a napkin on our small table because the table had the center cut out. If you go ask for a regular table. Ask them to click the oysters to see if they sound hallow or solid before serving a dead oyster. Absolutely disgusting.

It was our first visit - drinks were great, fried tomatoes were great, I prefer my deviled eggs a little sweet so those were not my fav, goetta balls were just ok, my BLT salad was great! I really appreciated the prices! Make sure you get appetizers if you're hungry,, the portions are not huge. Overall great place, l will be back!

Libby’s was very crowded when we visited, but despite that, it was surprisingly quiet, which made the experience more enjoyable. The inside of the restaurant was quite cold—cold enough that the hostess was wearing her coat. We didn’t sit outside, but we did like the idea that they offer a closed-in outdoor patio with heated lamps, which looked both cozy and pretty. It would have been even nicer if the small lanterns on the window ledges had been working.
For our meals, my husband had the Charlie Brown sandwich and I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo—both were enjoyable. Our server, Kelee, was very sweet and accommodating, which really stood out and added to the experience. We finished with the carrot cake, which had good flavor but was unfortunately a little stale.
Overall, a decent experience with friendly service and some nice touches, even on a very busy night.

We were seated outside in heated covered patio - even with 2 propane heaters and provided blanket - it was still chilly. It was dark and difficult to read the menu.

Mediocre, better places in the area. Very small and peculiar food choices some are good but come out undercooked and just didn't taste well. Way too crammed in there I was basically sitting on top of about three families and I could literally see the servers bumping into people left and right, also a lot of bugs I saw flies going everywhere including onto my plate disgusting. The service was decent had a nice lady but when I went to go back to try it again they had fired her. Now the service is definitely below where it used to be. Overall do not go here I would spend your money somewhere else personally.

The food was AMAZING! I ordered the Libby's eggs Benedict, it was so good. My friend ordered the fried bologna blt. I have never tasted anything more delicious. I will definitely order that next time. It's like 2 meals. You could definitely share with someone. Bloody Mary was good. My olive didn't have the pimento cheese in it, but our waiter brought some out. The pimento cheese was sooooo good. Had a little kick to it.

Never eaten here before, was given the suggestion to try it.
Drinks were brought out pretty fast and that first old fashion was amazing, the second was mediocre at best. We ordered the triple crown as an appetizer, 3 deviled eggs (nothing special) 3 fried green tomatoes (very good) 3 hush puppies (pretty good). Took a while for our meal to come out. I ordered shrimp and grits, being from Alabama i would say that I know what grits are, there were some weird pastie gritsish concoction. The shrimp was not fresh, but I didn't expect straight off the boat this far from the coast. It was god shrimp, great size decent flavor, thawed a little fast, in my opinion. But they were good. Way to many onion strings on the meal. Someone ordered the chicken, while the breading is crisp, there was no flavor to it. Everyone's food was okay, nothing special. Just switch to regular grits and make them correctly and your shrimp and grits would be twice as good. Season your flour and your chicken will be fine. I personally wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, it was okay. Pretty upset that they were out of bread pudding until later in the evening. But that was kind of the theme of the meal. Service was really good. Helpful and knowledgeable waitress. There were 4 adults and 2 kids in our party.
