I stumbled upon Melton’s after finding out a previous restaurant I had intended to go to for lunch was closed. Call it destiny or divine intervention but I gave this place a try and it was well worth it. I got the “Hot Mammie” sandwich with chips and a good ole Ale 8. I asked the lady for recommendations at first stating it was my first time here and found out the first time visitors get a free cookie! The ladies behind the counter were friendly and helpful and my sandwich, chips, and drink were $11.73 total. Which I would say is great value considering the service and quality of food.

The sandwiches were awesome. Fresh, made to order, and very filling. We had The Big Daddy and The Country Club ( I think that was the name … it had Country Ham) The best part of Melton’s - the people! Everyone was friendly, polite, and seemed genuinely happy we were there. The best part of our sandwiches - the sourdough marble rye bread. It was so good, I bought a loaf to take home, along with sliced country ham. I am looking forward to eating there again to try their soups & salads.

This is a small family-run business for over 26 years. I cannot stress how nice these people are. They actively start a conversations and were asking about our visit and was it our first time there.
As a pro tip if you tell them it's your first time which you should not lie cuz he's a nice people, you get a free cookie which by the way are delicious. We had the peanut cookies but the other ones looked as good.
There are a lot of choices in sandwiches, sides and desserts. All excellent.
Was always curious about this place when visiting downtown Danville, finally took opportunity to stop and try them. Great sandwiches and a very homey feel to the place, obviously very popular with the locals. I want another sandwich now as I write this post 😄.

From an old Texaco to a deli; is quite the change. This deli has been here for as long as I can remember and has always been one of the best places to get a sandwich. The owners are incredibly kind and always are there, and the food is great. It’s a perfect place for a Sunday lunch or a light lunch.
