We got the to go dinner of meatloaf. It was soooo delicious! And decently priced!
My family worked with Rhonda and her team for our rehearsal dinner this past June and it was an amazing experience. The whole team was amazing and made the evening so much fun. Not to mention the food was absolutely incredible! Thank you to the entire Southern Plate for making our rehearsal dinner so special!
Nice little place with friendly staff. Ordered the first time the other day and the food was good for a fair price. We will be ordering again.
Excellent service
I accidentally walked in 5 minutes before they closed for lunch not realizing the time, and they still took my to-go order. Absolutely amazing service and very kind staff.
Their Bluegrass Blackberry salad with grilled chicken is my FAVORITE! I'm not a big pasta fan but I tried their lasagna and it was so good! I'll definitely frequent Southern Plate Catering at every possible opportunity!
Looks kind of like a hole in the wall from outside, which is usually the sign of a good place. When you step inside everyone is warm and welcoming and I was standing next to the county food inspector in line- who was waiting for his lunch- which is a very good sign lol. The food is maybe a hair expensive for Danville, but this is also better food than you find at most Danville establishments so it is valid. I got the nacho special which is not something I’d usually get, but which was surprisingly good. Wife got the chicken salad and we sat upstairs. Neat place. Owner gave us a free cookie for our first visit (which was good, but wife bakes better sorry!). :) Great experience overall and a new destination for lunch in Danville.
Hand's down amazing customer service! They really care about their customer's & it show's they went out of their way to do a porch drop off at almost closing time cause we was in need (due to sickness) their some good heart genuine people still in this world please support such a amazing caring small business they deserve it & more thank you again for going out of your way for us in a time of need! ❤
Folks, if you find yourself in the Danville, KY area make sure to hit up Southern Plate Catering for lunch. My wife had the Meatloaf special and I had the KY Bourbon burger. It was possibly the best lunch we can remember having. We passed both plates around without saying a word. Just grunts and nodding in approval. The Bread Pudding is also the best I’ve tasted. Rhonda is awesome and the staff super friendly as well. 6 stars and will be back VERY soon!
What a wonderful little hidden treasure. Found out about this place from the nurses at the surgery center.Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and assisted in ordering. The loft is was not busy but they had a ton of order outs coming in keeping them busy. The server/chef came and talked with us and made sure we had everything we needed. We had the daily special bluegrass blackberry salad. Wow what a wonderful mixture of salad, chicken, fruits, and nuts. And the dressing was a fantastic sweet temptation.Additionally we had a Chipotle chicken wrap with seasoned fries. My husband downed that wrap so fast I didn't have time to say "enjoy."Can't wait to try more at this little locally owned shop.FYI Parking can be tough because the bank across the street has reserved all the spots so we parked in Baskin-Robbins area.

Decided NOT to take the bypass & stopped in the middle of the street and asked a worker in a hard hat where a good local dive was to eat lunch…he said turn right here and go to the sign that says Cafe…boy were we glad we did…atmosphere was fantastic and they were playing Bluesville on SirusXM we listen to in the car. Super friendly staff and David the chef was so attentive. Can’t wait to come back on our next road trip. Wonderful hospitality and delicious food ❤️
They have made two holiday dinners for us. Both were amazing.
We had lunch delivered to us and it was delicious!
Great place for lunch today! Atmosphere was friendly and inviting.
While Rhonda seems like a very hardworking and warm person, I wanted to share my experience, as we asked The Southern Plate to host our rehearsal dinner and my husband and I ended up feeling like we had been taken for a ride. When I first got in touch with Rhonda, I was very clear about our budget for the event to the point of quoting a specific figure. We discussed the details and she came back to me with a number that was slightly higher, but reasonable, and we agreed to it.There were a few adjustments on both sides (our headcount went down, she was unable to provide the dinnerware we initially agreed to, etc.), but for our part I think we were reasonable about providing information in a timely manner and flexible about the changes. When we arrived to the venue the day of our rehearsal dinner (admittedly a bit later than we intended because the rehearsal ran long) we were disappointed to learn that our wait staff had another gig immediately following ours, so our guests were rushed to their seats and we were handed an invoice that was about 40% higher than the figure Rhonda and I had agreed to.When we inquired, Rhonda was apologetic and after taking a look at the invoice pointed out that she had made a mathematical error on the quote she had initially sent us. I agreed to meet her in the middle on the price, but walked away feeling that there wasn't really much regard on her part for the budget that we had been very up front about--frankly, if we had been given a quote of the figure we ended up paying, we would have gone somewhere else. After drinks and gratuity for the wait staff we paid twice what we had budgeted--close to what we paid for catering for our reception of 60 people--for food that we and our guests weren't particularly impressed with.Part of why we chose The Southern Plate was because we were excited to support a local woman-owned business in Danville, but in the end it probably wasn't the best option for people on a budget.
