Stopped in with my three sons to have a beer. The bartender was borderline rude. Acted like he really didn’t want to be there. We ordered our drinks and three of us paid for them. One of my sons opened a tab. Gave his credit card and got his drink. The bar was mostly empty. We sat at a table for maybe half an hour and my one son that opened a tab ended up only having one beer. We decided to go get something to eat so he closed out his tab. Didn’t get a receipt and come to find out that they charged him $25 for one beer. I don’t know if this is a normal scam going on here but watch out if you open a tab. We won’t be back mostly because of the attitude of the bartender but getting scammed is not very good as well. If you are going to work in food service it might be a good idea to be at least polite to people and show some appreciation.

I can't speak to their food or drinks because no one served us. We went there twice- once with my husband, once with my friends. No one acknowledged us at all. One of my friends went up to the bar, and the bar tender refused to look at her and spoke to the other three customers there (only other people in the place). Being ignored twice is a pretty lousy feeling, so I guess if they don't want business, we can go elsewhere. Really rude establishment.

I was a bystander walking around in the Heartland Festival (September 2023) and the owner / a guy working there yelled at the organizers of the event and the attendants there in front of the tavern. He acted like a huge man child saying this event was bad for his customers and store front. The guy needs to be better.

My husband and I were at the Heartland festival today, and the owner of Bourbon Barrel Tavern came out & started losing it yelling at the volunteers and sellers for having a booth outside his bar. He almost started an altercation with one of the vendors. We ended up leaving the event not much later because we were really scared and had our baby with us. My friends have invited me to vinyl night here, and I will definitely be telling them about this & not be going now.
They need to add food to the menu during their Comedy Showcase.They also need to increase staffing dedicated to serving customers during their Comedy Showcase.Ticket taking, seating and lighting needs improvement.

Went for a Tuesday with discounted pours. That night was W.L. Weller. Flights and pours are all great deals. I love their blind tastings, but this was my best experience so far!

Really great spot to try new whiskeys and grab good beer. I didn't notice until after that our bartender gave me a small discount on a whiskey recommendation he gave me. Wish I had tipped even more. Will definitely go back!!
