I decided to give Good Belly Sandwich Shop a try after seeing a TikTok review that made the sandwiches look absolutely massive and incredible. Based on that video, my expectations were pretty high. My wife and I made the trip out there, and I ordered the Reuben while she ordered the Turkey Reuben.

The restaurant itself was clean and nice enough, although nothing particularly memorable. Their homemade chips were definitely the highlight of the meal—they were fresh, crispy, and probably the best part of our visit.

Unfortunately, everything else fell short of what we were expecting. The Reuben lacked the bold, savory flavor that makes a great Reuben memorable. I was hoping for something that reminded me of the oversized, flavor-packed deli sandwiches you’d find in New York City, but this just wasn’t it. In fact, I honestly think the Reuben at Jason’s Deli has more flavor and is a better sandwich overall.

Service also left something to be desired. While ordering drinks, we asked what they had available since they weren’t listed on the main menu. Instead of simply pointing us in the right direction, the employee gestured toward a small drink menu sitting on the counter and made us feel like we should have already known it was there. As first-time customers, that wasn’t a great first impression.

Another thing that made the experience uncomfortable was an employee who continually walked around the dining room, clearing tables while closely watching people who were still eating. I understand keeping the restaurant clean, but it felt like we were being rushed, and several times it seemed like he was hovering over diners rather than just checking on the dining area.

To top it off, I ended up with heartburn shortly after leaving, which didn’t help my overall impression of the meal.

I really wanted to love this place because the online videos made it look like a hidden gem with giant, authentic deli sandwiches. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t live up to the hype. While the homemade chips were excellent, the sandwich, service, and overall atmosphere just didn’t justify making another trip. Sadly, this is one place I don’t plan on visiting again.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. As a business owner myself, I understand that not every customer is going to love what you do, and that’s okay. Criticism is part of being in business. The important part is how you respond to it.

Instead of addressing the concerns I raised, your response ended with a sarcastic remark about Jason’s Deli. A more professional response would have been something like, “We’re sorry your experience didn’t meet your expectations. We appreciate you giving us a try, and we’d love the opportunity to earn your business again in the future.”

That type of response shows you value customer feedback, even when it’s negative. Unfortunately, the dismissive tone of your reply reinforced my original impression of the customer service I experienced during my visit. Because of that, I’m lowering my rating from two stars to one. I genuinely wish you and your business success, but treating constructive criticism with professionalism goes a long way toward earning repeat customers.

Good Belly is an awesome place. The sandwiches were great! It was our first time there and the person who took our order was very patient with us and went over all of our choices. We will be back!

Get the braised beef hoagie with the house made hot sauce. 11/10 I'm only sad because I got the last one of the day and no one else could enjoy it after that.

Terrific Reuben and great pickle!!

My favorite lunch spot in Louisville. Everything is clean, bright, and fresh. By far the best chicken salad sandwich in town. It’s one of those places that no matter if you go back tomorrow or two months from now, it’s the same high quality food each time. They did a meatball sub special last year, absolutely FIREEEE! 10/10

Is there a way to give a 10 star review?! I can not even tell you how amazing these folks are at the good belly. Attentive - get our order right every time - amazing food - fun atmosphere that will through you back to the good ol days. I love all of them that work there. This is what a going out should be like - top notch everytime !!! <3
