As someone who’s worked in restaurants for years, I usually give a lot of grace—but this experience was unacceptable.
We called Raw Sushi Bar at 8:30 to place a to-go order (they close at 9), and were told they weren’t taking any more. Slightly annoying, but fine—we decided to drive over and try to dine in instead.
We walked in at 8:40 PM, only to be told “we’re not seating anyone else.” When I asked for clarification since their website and front door both say they’re open until 9, the staff member told us the kitchen stops taking orders at 8:45. I literally looked at my phone and said, “It’s 8:40.” She then went to “check with the kitchen” and came back with a final, “No, we’re done.”
I wasn’t rude. I wasn’t pushing. I just asked for clarity. And instead of explaining anything reasonably, she hit me with, “I’m not sure what your problem is, ma’am.”
My problem? You advertise 9 PM and refuse service at 8:40 without any notice, transparency, or professionalism. If your kitchen shuts down early based on how busy the night is, that’s understandable—just say that. Don’t make customers feel like an inconvenience for walking in during posted hours.
I won’t be back. But if management cares about guest experience, they might want to retrain their team in basic communication and hospitality—or at the very least, update the hours to reflect how things actually run.

I forgot the name of the roll I got but it wasn't very good. Bland. No flavor at all. Not to mention, the new waiter brought me the wrong rice and they told me they'd charge me to add meat to my fried rice which should have been in there in the first place. I won't be returning. Crappy food to match the crappy service.

Solid spot! Service was great, food was tasty, reasonable prices. Their wasabi was especially good. Was a little nervous hitting a seafood spot in La Grange but honestly pretty impressed!

Awesome place we just stumbled upon! We got 2 rolls and a tuna appetizer and wow...so good... good price for the amount of sushi we got! Very nice servers, clean bathrooms and good food. What else can you ask for.

Everything from the appetizers to the entrees and the sushi rolls were truly fresh and delicious and amazing. The whole dining experience for a Friday night was great and fun and friendly, as well as relaxing. Definitely warrants a return visit.
