I rarely go to Shelby's, just once every couple of years when they were originally in Lawrenceburg and now in Frankfort. Yet after today's visit I felt compelled to write a review. The food is above average, I've never had a bad meal there. But the service is well below average, and I remember it being that way in the past. The atmosphere is fine if there's some crowd there. Shelby herself seems pretty nice, but some of the wait staff clearly do not want to be there at all. For those saying that they don't want non-locals there, I say the staff aren't always friendly to the locals either.

Came in for lunch and got the grilled cheese and veggie soup. It was okay. Waitress dropped off my food and never stopped by again. I flagged her down and asked for more unsweetened tea and at 1:30 pm was told they were out because they close at 3 pm they don’t make anymore. The place was still very busy with most tables full.

Best baked potato I’ve EVER had!

Absolutely one of the best diners we have experienced. A true local treasure. Friendly with southern flavors that we have missed. If doing the Bourbon trail or in the neighborhood stop in and say hey to Shelby.

First time eating here and I gotta say everything was delicious. My wife & I split two dinners meatloaf & chicken livers both were awesome 👌 all of the 4 sides also very good and the desert crazy good French vanilla cake & salted caramel brownie. Shelby's dinner knocks it out the park, keep doing what you doing & as for my wife & I we will definitely be coming back real soon. We can't wait to try breakfast here. See you soon.

We were in town overnight and asked for a good local place to eat as we like to support small businesses. Shelby's was highly suggested. We got there at 11:30 this morning and I asked if they had a breakfast menu. The tone and facial expression from the server was rude as she stated breakfast was done at 11:00.
My husband ordered a Pepsi with his food, but never received it. Asked for a water refill and never received that either.

Server was quite friendly with locals that came in and repeatedly went back to their tables.

Very disappointed.
