I think things have changed in Lexington when it comes to service after the pandemic. When we arrived tge hostess told us to sit “wherever” Our meals at Staves were okay. My fried chicken was unsalted but fair with the sides. No salt shakers on table. My dining companion had the lamb chops. They were good but sides were not. My collard greens were not hot at all. The cornbread appetizer with jams and the salads were very good here and are to be recommended. The server did not give us silverware so we had to grab from another table. Drinks were replenished, but nobody checked on our meals after the food was served. At the end of the meal, the server asked if we wanted our check and though I'd have preferred dessert, none was offered. Check comes and we were left with plates in front of us. Nobody bothered to clear them. I paid, left 20% in cash and we left. For an $80 meal in, dooryard to say this, unsophisticated Lexington, Kentucky, I expected more. I can't decide if Staves merits another visit.
Good change in menu but I did love the bourbon salmon they used to have went back just for the but ended up being take off the menu.
Food and service was great! At 6pm over the summer the sun beams through the windows and is blinding, even with the shades down. The restaurant had great ambiance but was very hot and stuffy. Drinks were good! Overall a great experience.
Staves is located in a beautiful area. The restaurant has a wall of glass that allows a full outdoor view which is lovely. The restaurant is beautiful, somewhat intimate, but appropriate for families or couples or business dinners. The service was excellent, server was pleasant and knowledgeable. The wine list was sufficient but not expansive. The summit cocktail was unique, perfectly poured and delicious. We ordered the burgoo, shrimp and grits and the lamb chops. The burgoo was good, thick and meaty. The shrimp and grits were tasty but somewhat greasy and the tail was still on the shrimp. The sides of the lamb chop dish was tasty, but the lamb tasted a bit gamey and un flavorful. Although it was cooked to perfection. We ended the meal with the bread pudding which was excellent, moist, not too sweet and more than enough for two people.
Everything on the menu looked so good we had a hard time deciding what to order! We had a great experience and will return!
Excellent meal. Service was friendly and fast. Attentive and helpful. Bartender made great bourbon suggestions. Salmon was perfectly cooked and delicious. I would definitely recommend.
Service was slow..it seemed like only one server was available to all the tables. And they were out of several of the menu options. The waffle my daughter got was smaller than expected and not the best, lacking in taste and limited toppings. Omelette was good but home fries nothing to write home about. This has a lot of potential they just aren't there yet. They need to step it up to attract area foodies :) have a gluten free waffle option with organic maple syrup or gf chicken and waffles and it will be more attractive! Check out table 33 in dayton ohio or Northstar for inspiration.
Had Birthday brunch with girlfriends. BEST server ever! Delicious food. Only thing was they were out of biscuits at 9:30 am, but not a deal breaker. They gave me a birthday dessert to take home. ❤️🎂
Great place! Enjoyed a spin on Chicken and Waffles and had Fried Duck and Waffles. The duck was cooked to perfection. My daughter enjoyed the everything crusted salmon and it was also perfectly cooked. Highly recommend.
Not a good experience at all, everything we ate was cooked poorly and it was too loud to even hear what the server was saying. Would not recommend to anybody.

The restaurant is very nice and clean, the staff and server were really good but maybe a bit over stretched. The drinks were fantastic. Food was good not super. I think expected a little better. It was no mistake just not amazing. We'd definitely go back.
Food was good and service was okay but a bit slow. Drinks were overpriced, and after dining in for an hour and a half with a $100+ bill we were charged a $3.00 “to go” fee to take a dessert home rather than eat it at the restaurant. Upon asking the waiter he advised that if we had ordered the dessert for dine-in and requested a leftovers box we would not have been charged the “to go” fee. Absolutely ridiculous policy and that $3.00 will keep me from ever going back.
Wonderful, open, quiet very attractive place. Wonderfully kind and attentive service. Excellent food too! Totally enjoyed our time.
My wife and I stopped here on our way back home from Lexington. When we first arrived dinner wasn't open yet, so we got a drink to start. I got the brown butter old fashioned, which was great! Then once dinner started at 5pm, I got the confit duck and waffles. It was my first time trying duck, but it was really good! My wife got the pork shank with Brussel sprouts and Mac n cheese. All of which were great. If you like Brussel sprouts I highly recommend them as they were roasted to perfection with almost Brussel sprout chips peeling off of them. Eric was out waiter/bartender and he did a great job. He was very attentive and knew what was best. I highly recommend giving this place a try, the food was all exceptional. We will definitely be back.

A bit pricey for quality of drink/food. Great service. Fun atmosphere/vibe. Not as fancy as the photos make it out to look.
