Always have had good service, good food and drink. like many nice restaurants, prices have gone up but we will go back since they always seem to do well. Not too noisy which we value. location is good, easy to park and you can walk around shopping area before or after.

My wife and I frequent this location and really like it. They recently added a filet and baked potato to their menu. This was the third consecutive time I've ordered the filet because it's just that good. Seasoned, seared, and cooked to perfection! I typically choose cole slaw or mac and cheese as my side, but I decided to give the baked potato a shot. A family member had told me that it was just “ok.”
The potato was not good. It was tough and lukewarm. It honestly reminds me of something I would get at Golden Corral or Ponderosa. No amount of butter, sour cream, salt, and pepper could save it. It seems they decided to go all-in on the steak and potato menu and only got it half right. The potato actually seemed like an afterthought.
I definitely recommend this restaurant, but I definitely encourage you to stay away from the baked potato. You can do better, and so should they.

We were in town for the kentucky/georgia game and stopped in for dinner the night before. We had the absolute pleasure in having Jade as our server. She was attentive, kind and an absolute blast to be around. She is the type of person that makes your day better by her presence. And if that was not enough we had the honor to meet her sister Sicily who helped us throughout the evening as well. The food was as food as it always is as we expect nothing less from the J Alexander brand. Thank you for making our trip to Lexington even better

Enjoyed a birthday celebration last night with 6 friends and our waiter, Miles, was absolutely amazing. We chose J Alexander’s for the food and, as always, it was beyond delicious. But the service Miles gave us made the evening so special. We can’t wait to come back.

My husband and I made reservations to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary at J. Alexander's on 7/9/24. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet our expectations for this special occasion.
Choosing J. Alexander's for our celebration was deliberate based on our previous experiences and their reputation for outstanding food and service. While most of our food was excellent, the service left much to be desired, casting a shadow over our evening.
Our disappointment began with the hostess. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a cold stare and an annoyed tone, which was disheartening. Despite having a reservation and noticing several open tables, we were asked to wait. Adding to this, the table we were eventually seated at was devoid of a lit candle, unlike the others, diminishing the elegant ambiance and making it difficult to see in the dim lighting.
Regarding the food, most of our dishes were superb. However, there were notable issues. The sautéed spinach was bland and mistakenly brought out before our main courses. The Mexican cheese dip appetizer was delicious but lacked enough tortillas to enjoy it fully and was prematurely removed from our table before we could request more chips. Although our server initially offered to remove the spinach from our bill, it was still included, necessitating an awkward conversation and a delay while a new bill was prepared.
A kind gesture was offered in the form of a complimentary carrot cake to celebrate our anniversary, which they give to all celebrating guests. However, after waiting 30 minutes without receiving it, we again had to awkwardly remind our server. This delay caused us to return home significantly late, inconveniencing our babysitter.
Overall, we were disappointed with our experience at J. Alexander's. Despite the excellent quality of most of our food, the lackluster service and overlooked details made our special night less enjoyable than we had hoped. :(

Me and my family visited for the first time while on vacation from Florida and the quality of the food is outstanding!! Everything was perfect. Our bartender Mykayla made one of the best drinks I ever had ! I highly recommend the crab cakes and mac n cheese and carrot cake. We can’t wait to go back , thank you for a wonderful dining experience
