We always book a table at Merrick Inn when in Lexington! Tonight, they didn't disappoint! Service was spot on (best filthy martini I've had in a long time, and service was attentive but not annoying. Fried chicken (our standard go-to) was crispy outside and juicy inside, with a generous serving of four pieces. We were stuffed after dinner, but ordered a piece of carrot cake to go, and it was ginormous, more than enough for both of us to snack on as we watched football....
I have always loved Merrick historically but the food was not the same. Their chicken in the past has been off the hook good but it was overcooked and not even the same recipe possibly. The lobster nachos were not the same either. They were brought out cold and the normal bubbly cheese was absent. I took two bites and usually I would stuff myself. After making reservations online and specifying that wanted to be seated at the patio they reserved indoor bar area table. Seemed there were enough concierges working there to take proper reservations. On the other hand the staff seemed distracted and the first glass of wine was rank.
