Working out the kinks. Great tacos! Definitely not going back because they are closed!!

If you’re looking for the best tacos in Lexington there are many better options than Painted Taco. The food is alright. The al pastor taco is pretty good, but it’s nothing special. The most popular order seems to be the taco basket, two tacos with chips and salsa. The chips and salsa are passable. The service there is a work in progress and it’s not the most organized place at the moment. The guy taking orders didn’t seem sober, apparently there was a “Bourbon and Ale8 party” the night before so they were also out of Ale8. He forgot tots on our order, forgot to give a number after we ordered, and messed up some order details. Despite cramped seating, the atmosphere is nice and friendly. Decent amount of bar space and TVs for watching sports. There is a nice patio area available that is very spacious. The main vibe I get from Painted Taco is that it’s an average taco sports bar. Once they figure out taco recipes, good service, and how to run a cleaner act, it might reach the level of some of the better taco places in town.

Great guacamole and chips. Taco's came out just as we ordered. Not crowded and had fast service.

Basic product. Total waste of money. Portion size is horrible. a four dollar taco. Not worth it especially with the delivery cost. Choose Chipotle or Qdoba for better portions and sides.

I've given them two tries now and won't be going back for a long time. I ordered 3 tacos this time around and haven't finished any of them. I really want this place to succeed but the food is just..bad. The al pastor and barbacoa have zero taste and the burger meat in the Merican is burned to a crisp. Where is the seasoning? Where is the spice?! The most flavorful thing on the plate is the store bought pickled jalapeno. It's a great space for hanging out with a beer, and the menu is appetizing, but the food doesn't deliver. I hope they can stick it out, it would be a great neighborhood spot!

Sitting here eating my tacos right now. Nice casual atmosphere and the food is really good. I recommend the El Pastor and the Korean BBQ.

Really cute place but the actual food is disappointing. My order was wrong twice and I wasn't impressed with either, and my fiance's food was right but he didn't really like it either.

Maybe it's because I ordered delivery, but the tacos (camino, Kim Jong Yum, and Al Pastor) were not very flavorful, and the corn tortillas had an odd tacky texture. The camino was particularly bland for a shrimp taco, with little flavor or texture of any sort. Liberal supplementation with lime and salsa (which Painted Taco didn't see fit to include) was needed to make it taste like anything. The Al Pastor had more flavor, but that flavor was mostly cumin -- legit Al Pastor this is not. The Kim Jong Yum was the tastiest of the bunch, but it had no heat whatsoever. I had reasonable hope for this place based on the rave reviews, but it seems I need to further temper my expectations re: taco performance.

Such a cool building and vibe. The guy who took our order was really nice and recommended the tater tot bowl, which I ordered. The tacos weren't great, we ended up getting served crumbs instead of chips (hidden under two tortilla chips), the pork over the tater tots wasn't good and was in large chunks... we may give this place another shot but it's unlikely.

Nice atmosphere. They will do well in the area. Parking isn't really great, no fault of theirs as it seems the neighbors in the area aren't real happy with the traffic. The food and atmosphere was good but this seems geared for a younger crowd. I suggest you give them a try and see if they fit your style.

Great tacos, very nice staff, and great vibe! Very good prices for the quality of food you get.

Stumbled upon this place while visiting my mom in Kentucky. It was very food! Live music. Cool atmosphere. I liked the BBQ taco and the pork w/pineapple... try it!

It's a fun little Mexican place by my house! We went kind of late and they stayed open until we were all finished. The food came out quickly and it was good. We loved the music that was playing! I took away one star for the restroom situation (it's outside) and it was a little expensive.
