The food here is amazing (pizza, their original salad, and especially the tomato basil soup), but the wait at peak business times is atrocious. It always takes at least 45 minutes to get food at this “fast casual” pizza joint, sometimes 50 minutes to an hour. While visiting Lexington I had to try some pizza. We stopped here at the Smashing Tomato Italian Pizza. I got the Americano which is Cheese and Pepperoni, wood fired. Also ordered breadsticks. The breadsticks came up first, they had good flavor and were definitely woodfired with nice charred undercarriage. The pizza was just so so unfortunately. I really enjoy the Margherita pizza. Have eaten it half dozen times. Crust is bubbly and chewy. Sauce is tasty. Fresh mozzarella and basil make it attractive too. The parmesan breadsticks are absolutely delicious! Tried the artichoke dip and the sunny heirloom pizza but both were way too salty for my taste.
