Nurses & Doctors are kind. They kept checking on my daughter.

Kosair’s Children Hospital in Louisville is a top-tier medical facility that goes above and beyond in providing exceptional care for children. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted by a compassionate and professional team of staff who make every effort to ensure both patients and their families feel comfortable and supported.

The hospital is well-equipped with state-of-the-art technology, offering a wide range of specialized services. The pediatric care is outstanding, with doctors and nurses who are not only highly skilled but also genuinely caring and attentive to the needs of both children and parents. The staff takes time to explain everything in detail and address any concerns, making the experience less stressful during what can be a difficult time.

The facility itself is clean, welcoming, and designed with children in mind, featuring vibrant colors and child-friendly areas that help create a positive atmosphere. The waiting areas are spacious and designed to make patients and families feel at ease.

Kosair’s is truly a place where you can trust that your child will receive the best care. I highly recommend this hospital for any pediatric needs. Their commitment to children’s health and well-being is unmatched!

I had to get a 48 hr EEG and I was transported here and the nurses was really really nice. Nurse Kevin was one of the most AMAZING nurse that I have ever met and seen he is really good with people I really liked him as my nurse

My son had a hemorrhage after surgery and we came to Norton children’s. Every single nurse and doctor that we came into contact with was wonderful. They have a specialist there just to help distract the kiddos and make them feel more at ease. She was amazing as well.
My son ended up needing surgery and the doctors/nurses made us all feel more at ease and took great care of our boy! 10/10 will come here again if we have another emergency.

My finance took our son up there for double pink eye mind you our son is one waited over 3 hours he has ooze coming out his eyes and instead of prescribing a eye drops that they gave to my nephew a few days before hence where he go the pink eye from they sent them home and said let it run its course. My helpless baby has to sit in itchy pain with his eyes bothered shut every time he takes a nap instead of getting prescribed ointment to help the infection

We came in today for a planned scheduled surgery on the 8th Floor, at 6am. . I am in the process of adopting my child who has been with me for almost 7 years. All the Court / Family Court information is all in my child’s chart.
One of the people started questioning 🤨 me because I am Transgender 🏳️‍⚧️ and my name changed but yet she could see all updated info in the system, but continued to act as if it was an issue. The issue was that nurse needs to know how to do a better job when treating people. Remember all families are different and do better. I very much felt targeted & called out when all the information was there. She even told me more than once yes I can see it all in the computer. We all see Nortons Doctors in our family ! Families do come blended.
I very much felt discriminated against this morning and that is never ok. I was going to contact administrators but of course only the email shows not a phone number. So my advice to y’all is learn how family court works and how you can’t just walk in & update things that easily. When I offered my adoption attorney name and number she changed very quickly to we was good to go. Training & knowledge is everything this hospital should do that. To fix any confusion on the 8th floor nurse I am this babies mom.

Good evening, the treatment of the nurses is super loving but the doctors take a long time to arrive, the waits in the emergency room exceed up to 5 hours, I have been in the emergency room for 4 hours with a 1 year old baby and they still haven't seen me and it's not because the hospital is full but because they don't have the desire to work because the room is almost empty of patients, I drive a trailer truck, I start work at 4 am and I haven't slept yet, I told the doctor so she would see me to continue unloading my truck that transports medications and they didn't care about that, it seems unbelievable that in a country with so much development we have to wait so long in an emergency room because I don't think anyone likes to come to the hospital to party but out of necessity

All of our nurses in the PICU here were amazing but Dr. McIntyre who was neurology or something along those lines was absolutely awful. I don’t know if you grow cold after working in this field for so long or what her problem was but hearing a doctor tell a grieving parent who doesn’t want to leave their child “well she’s dead” is unacceptable. This was not the first time she communicated in a cold manner but those words are stuck with me. My daughter spent 5 days here after being transported from Elizabethtown after suffering cardiac arrest from an asthma attack. The whole time we were hopeful because she kept showing signs she was still with us. After a few days those signs started to slow but my baby kept showing me she was still with me, me as her mother knew it was her trying to show me. The doctors were so quick to just say she was brain dead with no hope. As soon as I said I didn’t want her to be cut into for organ donation they were quick to rush me to let her go even though I wasn’t ready. I still had hope and believe in miracles. There are many documented cases of doctors having it wrong yet still the next morning they came in and told me I only had 30 minutes to tell her goodbye. They refused to let me stay with her and when I said I didn’t want to leave her alone, Dr. McIntyre very coldly informed me “well she’s dead”. My baby still had a heartbeat and they made me leave her. Those words will forever haunt me. She should really rethink working with children. I understand those in the medical field believe in different things but you should never behave that way or force a parent to say goodbye before they are ready

The worst hospital I have ever known in this wonderful country. My daughter is 3 years old and has cerebral palsy and many more medical problems. I have to frequently go with her to the emergency room and they don't take good care of you, there is a long wait outside and when you enter a room for 5 hours waiting for a doctor it is a lack of respect and you complain because we have every right as a mother and they get upset and They treat you very badly, what a horror, the health service for children here is terrible.

I can not say enough positive things about the care my twin grandsons have received here. NICU, Cardiac Surgery, CICU...every part of the hospital we have come in contact with, has been nothing less than exceptional. The Nurses, the Doctors, the people working the desks on the floors, the reception desk in the main lobby, security... They have all been amazing. Thank You All!!

Horrible experience. I’m 17, will be 18 in a month. First night here I had already had an IV in from another hospital before transferring here, 2am it started to hurt really bad. After 15 min of calling and waiting for a nurse, the nurse said it was a perfectly good IV and wouldn’t take it out, instead she put new bandaging on it. All throughout the night the pain got worse, I had also gotten my birth control shot that same day in the same arm that my IV was in. I was in screaming pain and I got no rest that night, it wasn’t until 2pm the next day they removed it because I couldn’t get up to use the bathroom I was in so much pain. I also had a no daytime nap rule so I was constantly exhausted.Talked to the eating disorder team and told them Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday AND Friday that I did not eat eggs. Every single day being there it was eggs. Saturday I had asked my nurse for something else, she said I couldn’t get anything different. Same thing happened Sunday. It wasn’t until Monday they fixed my menu and let me choose, which showed a huge difference. While making HUGE progress the nurses and other teams were pressuring a feeding tube saying It would happen if I didn’t progress. Every single team talked down to me like I was a child, like a 10year old. They would explain the same thing, even the same people, would explain the same thing over and over again. They would also constantly ask if I would ever make myself throw up or used any medication to make me lose weight. They were persistent even though my answer had always been no, like they were wanting me to admit yes, even though that’s not the case. I’ve also had multiple sitters blast whatever it was on their phone during my SLEEPING hours. One would also take phone calls, and another would eat, which all are against the rules given it’s the eating disorder floor. I would tell the nurses that I was hot and sweating and they would refuse to let me change the temperature below 75° which that by itself is absurd. When my mom visited she had to basically beg the nurses to do something because I was overheating, my heart rate was skyrocketing to 180, never dropping below 145. I also couldn’t sit because they were making me drink 7 boosts a day and it was backing me up. They were giving stool softeners which never helped, yet they continued to give. I had to get 3 laxative dissolver just do complete one bowel movement. They would also put in the wrong information to mychart. They would read my vitals to me everyday because they would do labs everyday at 4 and 6am. Sitter also have horrible experiences here, not getting their LEGALLY REQUIRED BREAKS, SPECIFICALLY on this floor unless you BEGGED over and over. I would also have to earn privileges, like showering, which took 6 days because my goal was set SUPER HIGH. They also didn’t tell me until the next day that I had earned it. It took 2 hours for scrub pants, then they wanted to say I couldn’t shower because I already had my bedtime boost, WHILE I WAS WAITING FOR SCRUB PANTS, so they said I couldn’t shower. My mom would visit late, around 5:30ish and stay till 9. Dinner I’m able to earn privileges, but since my mom was there I wouldn’t use them at that time, so I’ve had unused privileges. The nurses then wanted to say that the privileges didn’t carry onto the next day, so I had basically lost those privileges. I would also have to wait HOURS for any kind of answer. Asked them to call my mom to come up and visit on Sunday, no response for 40 min, called again and they said they talked to her and the nurse would let me know. 2 hours later with NOTHING, called again asking and then 20 min later the nurse comes to tell me “she said she will tomorrow”. Been here for 2 weeks and the teams haven’t at all talked together to get an estimate of my discharge. There’s absolutely no communication, no need to “help” the patients, sitters don’t get breaks, sitters have to wait past the time they SCHEDULED their lunch. HORRIBLE HOSPITAL.

Very good care here! The UofL team is excellent including the MD, the nurses are very kind and considerate. Love that they have a refrigerator and microwave and snacks 24/7 - that is so helpful.
The only bad: clean your windows cheapskate!! We all know you have the money for it and this is the only thing we get to stare out of all day! Also upgrade your cold nasty prison food, you can afford to upgrade from grade F to maybe grade B or C quality ingredients… come on now!

My five year old came for a bad case of constipation. We were checked in quickly, even though there were other patients there. They diagnosed and treated the problem in a non stressful, efficient way. We left the hospital feeling much better with our nerves at ease. The nurses were so sweet and helpful... All people in healthcare should be millionaires, truly. We are forever thankful for the work that they do.
