Dalat's Banh Mi and Boba

Dalats Gateaux Cafe' on Southside Dr is certainly worth visiting, if you live in or just passing through this end of town. They offer a nice selection of Vietnamese cuisine from bun bo hue to banh mi sandwiches. If you don't like French baguettes, ask for a Banh Mi IN-A-BOWL (on rice) for a few $$ more. (Add a couple fried eggs on top for an amazing dish) Nice selection of pork chop & chicken, Boba teas pastries, and of course Vietnamese Coffee, hot or iced. Listen to the best selection of Asian chill music, this side of the Indochina Penninsula. Can't go wrong at DALATS.

Edit: And.... when you need a cake for a birthday or other celebration, their white cake with fruit is a must. Everyone loved the texture & flavor. Not overly sweet, their cakes cakes are like baby bears porridge, just right.

10.27.2025 We had a durian cake for a birthday celebration. The cake was soft and just sweet enough. The durian fruit was creamy & custardy and the cake was nicely decorated with vanilla icing with sliced kiwis adorning the top and the perimeter of the base. The durian was, of course, the highlight of this wonderful cake.

The atmosphere is inviting yet vibrant, with a comforting charm that makes you want to stay a while.

The customer service is top-tier—attentive without being pushy, and genuinely friendly in a way that makes every visit feel personal.

The Good Morning boba is pure happiness in a cup. The creamy blend of strawberry and banana, topped with fluffy whipped cream, is both refreshing and indulgent—sweet, fruity, and perfectly balanced. It’s the kind of drink that instantly lifts your mood. My personal favorite.

And the banh mi? Absolutely phenomenal. The bread has that perfect crisp exterior with a soft, airy inside, and the fillings burst with flavor—savory meats, crisp cucumbers, tangy pickled veggies, and just the right kick of herbs. Every bite feels thoughtfully made.

Not to mention, I have to give a special shoutout to Meemee, whose incredible customer service truly made my visit unforgettable. From the moment I walked in, her warm energy and genuine kindness made me feel instantly at home. She has the kind of beautiful smile that lights up the entire cafe, and you can tell she truly cares about every customer who walks through the door. Meemee didn’t just take my order—she took the time to chat, recommend her favorites, and make sure I had everything I needed. It’s rare to find someone who can make a place feel so welcoming, but Meemee does it effortlessly.

We came here for breakfast when visiting Louisville. It looked like they are the only Viet restaurant in the area open at 8:30am. The restaurant was roomy, clean and well decorated. I was so happy that they serve Bun Bo Hue on Sat and Sun. I ordered Bun Bo Hue, Pho, Banh Mi and Banh Gio. Everything was pretty good. Service was friendly.

A true Louisville gem, I'll be coming back again and again. You would never know from looking that inside this small shopping center in the south end is one of the most pleasant and delicious cafes in Louisville. Met a friend here to chat over lunch and was immediately impressed by the charming interior design and friendly service. Food was nicely plated and tasted good to boot! Definitely recommend trying one of their many milk tea or milkshakes, so make sure you bring your lactaid pills fellow intolerants!
