Hot damn this place is good. Unfortunately, I never got to come in the days when they were a restaurant, and only first tried them once they moved to takeout only a couple days a week (once covid began). But, with that said, their takeout is incredible. I've tried the pretzel with beer cheese, goat cheese spaetzle, and the burger. And whoa. Definitely get this food whenever you can!

The customer service is always speedy, good mood, very friendly staff. I will come back again when I arrive in the area.

Sad to be writing this review as they have closed their door recently.Oddly enough, I used to stop by Eiderdown for a cheeseburger, it was fantastic! Also enjoyed the spatzle, not sure where I'll be able to find good German food now.I hear they'll be open for events and catering, one can only hope!

Really enjoyed dinner here this past Saturday. We came around 7pm and there was no wait for two. We had the spaetzel and kraut balls as an appetizer, and the special chili dog and the vegan stuffed cabbage for our mains. The spaetzel balls were out of this world fantastic. Our mains were both really good but came out a little on the cold side; not bad enough to detract a star though! I was super impressed with how authentic the stuffed cabbage tasted too, just like my mom's growing up (Polish recipe, not German, but apparently all the same). And the bread pudding dessert was so delicious, shout out to our waitress for insisting we try it! This is definitely a gem of a place, not to be missed during your time in Louisville! There were several other things I wanted to try too so plenty of choices for return visits!

Eiderdown has always been a place that my family and friends have celebrated milestones like birthdays and homecomings. We were so devastated to hear that they were switching from their current business model. BUT, a very small group of us are having a dinner party to celebrate the arrival of a new baby soon, and we have been working with Heather to cater for us. It has been a dream come true. She offered us many of our favorites from the old menu, complete with duck fat popcorn and garden spaetzle. It's all reasonably priced and better yet, they are going to deliver it to us. I can't say enough about Heather's professionalism and responsiveness. They've been wonderful to work with and I can't wait to enjoy a night with my friends who are like family, enjoying the meals that have brought us such great memories over the years. That's a long way to say, if you are missing Eiderdown-- do not fret! Get a group of friends together and contact Heather. It'll be worth your while.

I’m disappointed in myself for not eating this sooner and that they are closing down the restaurant! I want more!

I'm disappointed in myself for not eating this sooner and that they are closing down the restaurant! I want more! I got dinner takeout (coronavirus limitations) - it was ready in 20min! It looks like they have a few popular menu mainstays with a few fun, rotating items. Starter - Coconut, red bean and rice arancini with roasted red pepper mango sauce . It was cheesy and gone in seconds! (If you like comforty cheese food you'd love this and the spaetzle) For the main - Sweet potato-yuca fritters, corn piccalilli, beans and rice, pickled cucumbers (added pork). Ummmm, so glad I got the pork. It was chopped and kind of crispy in a good way. Paired PERFECTLY with the soft rice, beans and pickled cucumbers. The corn was the perfect festive side. Of course I thought might as well order extra sides to try esp to support local. The Herby sweet potato salad was a great summer side (not mind blowing but nice - I'll eat the leftovers for lunch) and you can't go wrong with cheesy spaetzle. Super filling, affordable and slightly adventurous for me. Lots of leftovers. Will be returning before they transition to catering only! Dont forget to give some love - tip big

I just asked my wife how much Spätzle she thought she was going to eat.

We went for my birthday and had a decently large party and the staff accommodated us and was fantastic about refills and getting the food out all at the same time. Definitely recommend if you’re wanting to try authentic German food and drinks. Only downside is the place is a bit small so I would get there right as they open to guarantee a seat

Eiderdown is an amazing restaurant. Good food even if it's more German mix. Good beers and cocktails. The staff are nice. Definitely a must go to for those interested in trying something a bit different.

Some of the best German food we’ve had in quite a while! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a friendly, festive atmosphere! The staff was welcoming and the aromas were inviting. Everyone seemed to be having a good time, and their food items looked incredible! The dining area is quaint, cozy and family style. And the beer menu offers a wide array of beer styles, with 21 on tap. They also have a full bar, and wine by the glass. But it’s the food that really sets it apart. The menu is full of classic German fare, but presented with a slightly modern flair. We ordered the Schnitzel, which came wonderfully prepared and presented. But there are many other menu items that are noteworthy. You really have to visit them to appreciate! They also have several vegetarian dishes that sounded quite appetizing. Found this restaurant on a GPS map, while visiting Louisville. And we were pleasantly surprised. It was a little hard to find at night, in the rain. But definitely well worth it. Parking lot on site.

Dined there one evening with a couple of Louisville locals. Not a huge restaurant; seemed to be filled with local residents. Friendly staff. Great food. Reasonable prices. The schnitzel was excellent. I opted for a side salad with cherry vinaigrette and the warm German potato salad (for a $1 upcharge) as my sides -- perfect dinner choice. They offered a red sangria drink special, and it paired well with dinner.
