Review Date 3/26/24Our Condo Association went toel Caporal Mexican Restaurant at1909 Blankenbaker PkwyLouisville, KY 4029919 of our residents from Swan Pointe went to el Corporal tonight. We had such a great time talking and laughing. Then everyone started pouring over the very extensive menu. I don’t think anybody chose the same thing. There was Chicken Fajitas, Chicken Burrito Especial, Steak Burrito Especial (These were as big as your head!! lol) a Taco Salad, Combo 1, Combo 2, Combo 3, Combo 4, Tacos, Chicken Tenders, and more!! Lots of Margaritas were ordered! It was really wonderful food. I had the Steak Burrito Especial. It had strips of steak, rice and beans. It also had lettuce and onions, which I had held on mine. It was topped with creamy white Queso. It was so quiet when everyone started eating. I think you can guess, the food was delicious!Our server was Anna and she did a terrific job getting around the table and getting everyone’s drink order. Then she went and brought the drinks back to the table. I think she got every one of the drinks to the correct person.Next she took the food order. Like I said, there were 19 people and almost every order was different. It was a bit confusing when other staff was passing out food, but Anna came and helped get everyone’s food to the correct person. She really did a good job and stayed busy keeping everyone’s glasses filled. Passing out the checks was a snap for Anna. She did a 5 Star job!El Caporal is in a small neighborhood center on Blankenbaker and it was a warm, cozy place. There was a good amount of people there and everyone seemed to be having a good time. The owner Luis Angeles was there. He was very welcoming and helpful. He assisted Anna with bringing drinks to the table, food to the table and of course, ringing out customers’ checks.We had a great time and I heard a lot of people telling our condo president, “Let’s do this again!”RobynParking: There is a lot of parking available and it was well lit. It’s located in a neighborhood strip center.
Ordered 3 specialty tacos to go, as a meal. My order took forever and came up with just one taco of which they tried to charge me $14.00 for. Said "the staff is new". It wasn't even worth $2.00 - better food at Taco Bell. While waiting for my one measly taco I ordered a glass of wine and paid $7.00 for a tiny 3 oz. glass of cheap wine. Waitress said "most restaurants charge $15 for a glass of wine". Finally paid extra for using a credit card. Staff said "everyone charges extra for credit". Excuses, poor quality - won't go here again

My order was made perfectly! I like to get fajitas anytime I go out for Mexican. I order them with "well done" onions, and it's very hit or miss whether or not they actually do it. This time they did and my onions were deliciously caramelized. The prices here are reasonable. They have discounted margaritas on Monday. They're nothing special, but they'll work if you're craving a margarita. My husband liked the hot salsa - he devoured it! He enjoyed his enchiladas, too. We used a coupon and really enjoyed the quick and delicious service. Highly recommend!

I love their food! I usually dislike other restaurants refried beans, but their refried beans…..YUM!!!! Their customer service is great and their food is so good!!! I haven’t tried anything I don’t like. This is always our go to Mexican Restaurant! Thank you for always taking such good care of us!Kid-friendliness: They are so good with my kiddos!
I started going to this restaurant occasionally during lunch when I worked in the bluegrass industrial park area. The food was always fresh, service was always excellent, and I was always in and out and back to work in no time. I decided to bring my family here for dinner because lunch was so good and nobody was disappointed. The food here is always fresh. Never tastes old. The service is always fabulous. There is not a single waiter or waitress that I would ever complain about. Most Friday nights have become El Caporal night, and we look forward to visiting. At least half of the people we see come through the door every visit are regulars. You can't have bad food and poor service and have constant regulars. Obviously, nothing is always perfect, and people do have bad days, but I wonder if the bad reviews have more to do with the attitude of the reviewer than issues with the restaurant or its staff. I would recommend this restaurant a thousand times over. I love it here.

Atmosphere was so gloomy and old. Definitely need updating. Food was terrible. Service was extremely slow, when confronted waitress blamed it on the weather, mind you it was 75 degrees yesterday. The place wasn't busy at all yet service was terrible. We ordered a Pina colada and it was also terrible.First time going and Definitely the last time. I do not recommend this restaurant at all.
