It appears that it's recently been rebranded Mesa de la Familia but if you've been to El Caporal in the past take comfort in knowing that the menu and the food you've come to expect will be available. I'm generally torn between one of three things: Beef Tip Chimichanga (fried), Chilies Poblanos Rellenos, or De Mole. The Chimi is my favorite as the beef tip falls apart in a gloriously shredded and mouthwateringly juicy fashion. The Rellenos is perfect when I'm not as hungry (or I've managed to eat way more chips and salsa than I thought I would and perhaps a language barrier resulted in my cerveza containing 20 more fluid ounces than I intended - there are worse things that can happen). De mole is the sort of dish that I reach for when I want a meal that is uniquely Mexican; I could be wrong but I don't think think mole makes it on the menu at many other Mexican restaurants and sometimes it just feels right to order the "meal of the ancient Aztec gods."

This place is great! Food is delicious, fast, and filling! Service is prompt, friendly, and gets the order right the first time, woohoo! Atmosphere is authentic, great grub, good prices, I will be back again and again.
I will never go back. When I questioned my order, the manager proceeded to argue with me. He then proceeded to pick my plate up and grabbed a fork off of the table to use to move the food around on my plate. He did not ask if this was my fork, he just assumed. I ask for him to set my plate down and once I thought about what he just did I told him that I did not want the food. He did not ask if I wanted to order any other entree. The service was terrible. Will never eat here again.

Stopped in to get some traditional al pastor tacos, the woman made sure that we knew it was onions, cilantro, radish and lime. They don't offer al pastor so we opted for the carnitas. Got home to some disappointing tacos, no lime or radishes but the biggest problem was the flour tortilla! Who does that? A flour tortilla wrapped in tin foil makes for a mushy tortilla. The meat tasted more like a roast but the one kind of salsa was pretty good.
OUR FIRST TIME THERE IN SEVERAL YEARS IT WAS VERY GOOD ! WE WILL FOR SURE BE BACK SOON .......THE OUTSIDE COULD USE SOME NEW PAINT ON THE SIGN TO BRIGHTEN IT UP AND STAND OUT MORE :)

Awful!!! I have loved this place for YEARS but the last 3 or 4 times I have gone has been subpar! The chips and hard taco shells are very dark and taste awful.... like they've been cooked in very old oil. And that must be the new normal, because I have been going less frequently than I ever have, so these last 4 visits have been spread out for probably a year and EVERY time the chips and taco shells are awful. They definitely do not make them anymore and if they are, then they need to change the oil. Love the ppl, hope they can correct this. I'm not likely to come back. The salsa and queso are still the BEST though.
Great chips and salsa ! I also love the vegetable fajitas, mushroom quesadillas, cheese enchiladas & fried ice cream ! Margaritas are delicious, too !!
