El Mariachi Mexican Restaurant

Overall, a great restaurant. I believe our server may have been new, she tried really hard and did a great job but kept rushing us to order. She also wasn’t too familiar with the menu yet.

We love the Birria menu! Particularly the Birria pizza. It comes topped with pickled onions and a bacon wrapped jalapeño! The consume is good. The salsa and queso are also great starters, but the chips are SO HARD. Parking is slim but there are a few near the restaurant.

1st trying El Mariachi Mexican restaurant. We were not super impressed. It was okay. Food was fair and kinda bland. The waitress was not very intentive. But it is an authentic Mexican restaurant it just wasn't my favorite. Super clean.

Great service and drinks. Terrible food. Over cooked and dry across the board for my group. Hot dogs in charro beans that are bland. Dry chewy seafood and shrimp. Birris tacos dry meat and flavorless consommé.

I make a lot of reviews, but I could honestly say right now, but easily. This is my new favorite Hispanic restaurant in the city of Louisville.!!!
The staff was always doing something busy, smiling my server helped me beyond her capability as it was Her first day and she literally had just came on the floor today! She handled me and my snarkiness and my silliness like a pro. She did not get emotional until I tipped her 100% I could tell that it made her feel good which it should have. She provided an excellent service to me and anticipated my needs and will be a very solid asset to the management or owners at this facility.! I look forward to coming back and enjoying a nice dinner or lunch or just a snack after skating thank you so much for providing a excellent experience and me having the opportunity to have such a great server Jasmine!

Whoever trained this girl hit a home run!

If you’re looking for authentic Mexican vibes, El Mariachi delivers. The decor, music, and overall energy create a festive and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the positive experience.

The portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable. The margaritas were a highlight — strong, refreshing, and well-balanced. However, not everything hit the mark. The grande chicharrones were a bit dried out, and the birria tacos were a letdown — they came out soggy, with cheese simply dropped on top rather than melted in. Not ideal for such a signature dish.

Still, the overall experience was enjoyable enough that we returned two days later for happy hour (which is why we gave it a four because three dollar margaritas are amazing) — and we were glad we did. El Mariachi has great potential, especially if they tighten up a few dishes.

Love this place! The chips and salsa were great. Everyone loved their fajitas and quesadillas. I had ceviche and it was great. Summer of the children got kid's meals and the fried chicken and fries were gone quickly. GREAT service for a table of 12!

There was maybe 3 eating. Very slow. Which is no problem until it took a while to be served at the bar. I would say I waited roughly 10min before I got served. Which 10min doesn’t seem long until you’re sitting at a bar waiting for a drink.

Bartender/server finally came but then only asked if I wanted chips and salsa i said yes and she walked away. Came back about 5min later with chips and salsa. The chips were cold and super stale. Keep in mind the place isn’t busy. She walked away and I said I’d like to order a beer and then she walked back. Idk why she’d walk off without a drink order anyways but I digress.

As I order I then tell her the chips are stale and cold and she took them in the back and returned and said sorry we only have these chips.

HELLLOOOOOOOO? You’re telling me a Mexican restaurant only has 1 thing of chips and I got the last one at 2pm and there’s absolutely 0 chips left and the chips I got were stale and cold?

If that’s true then what the heck, if it’s not true and I’m lied to, then also what the heck.

I just wanted chips and salsa and a beer :( left disappointed

We had to order our food over and over and send it back repeatedly for it being wrong. It was just chicken and steak fajitas. No peppers due to an allergy. They sent it out wrong even after our waiter repeated back to us multiple times. We could tell it was going to come out wrong when we ordered. Sure enough, it was. Unfortunately had to send it back. The next order comes out...with chorizo and shrimp. What?! Lol. My daughtered ordered a taco and side of rice; never received the rice yet they charged us for it. At this point, we box up the food that IS correct, pay for it, and leave. Don't waste your time. I'd complain to the manager but he wouldn't understand English and so there's no point. Accepting the defeat but leaving with a horrible experience.
