This Encore worker needs to deal with his anger issues...he could kill someone, he just stopped in the middle of the street and started yelling and cursing (it won't let me download the video but if you need it I can send it).
The restaurant was not prepared for a large crowd before a show at the Palace. They were out of several things on the menu. Food was a little over priced (chicken finger meal was almost $19). Bar was running way behind and our last drink (ordered right after our meal came) didn't come out until after we were already done eating.
It was about 8:15 the place was pretty empty except for a function in the back room. Service was slow, the bartender waited on us. We were told the kitchen was closing so the menu was limited but then was told it wasn't we could order what we wanted. Food came out it was ok but our salad come out almost when we were finished with our entrees. Average food, good drinks
Our meals overall, weren't bad, but the menu was very misleading. The menu listed Fish and Chips, rye, tartar, and one side. I asked the server if the chips were French fries, or potato chips. The server said neither, it is just how it is worded on the menu. No chips at all, I asked? No, she said. Then why is it called Fish and Chips, if chips don't come with the meal? The server had no answer. The server asked the manager to stop by, so I asked him about the Fish and Chips on the menu, and if French fries, or potato chips came with it, since the menu stated, Fish and Chips. The manager listened to us ad we discussed the wording of Fish and Chips and he finally said, "I'll bring you some French fries with your meal." We still got the sides that we ordered, and the food was good with generous portions. The wording on the menu was awkward. If the restaurant isn't going to serve the chips with the menu item, Fish and Chips, then they need to delete the words, And Chips and just call it a fish dinner.
This was one of the worst dinner experiences we had in Louisville. First the wine was ordered and it took such a long time for it to show up to the table we had another server stop and ask if anyone has helped us yet, even the host stopped by and asked. Once the wine showed up it was flat and you can tell it has been sitting open. Next a server stopped by to refill our waters and poured a significant amount of water on the table and just left it. The appetizer was okay but nothing special. Once the entree arrived and we took our first bit we were done. The food had no flavor and was so bad my date did not eat anymore than a few bits. The cost of this visit was ridicules for the quality of the food and the service. We will not be back.
Just wasn't impressed. To make a reservation just to be sat by a wait station and bathroom hall was a bit disappointing. Food was bland and our server was ok but was in the weeds so we didn't see her much. I just wouldn't waste money on this place.
Very slow service, waited almost 50 minuets for our dinner which we never got to enjoy . We had to leave without eating was in town to catch a show at the palace theater directly across the street . A nice place but must improve service.
Encore has a great location by the the theaters. However, they shorten their cocktail menu too 3 "easily" (pre-made possibly) drinks. All were vodka, which is unacceptable. The reasoning was that they are too busy on show night! The service was decent but the atmosphere, food, and aforementioned drink issue need to be addressed. I know they just reopened after SET's failure but they changed little in the way of decor except for creating a generic, chain like logo. The business chic look falls flat when you don't put a beer and spirits list on the table. The food was decent but size seemed to trump quality. I'm hopeful for some meaningful changes but not holding my breath. Being located next to theaters and some of Louisville's finest hotels I would expect better. They look like and operate more like a restaurant fit for 4th Street Live! They lack an identity which is disappointing.
Would not go back. Was in the mood for a salad. Waiter assured me it was big enough for a meal which for $10 it should be. It was not. And he brought it out ten minutes before my wife's burger even tough I said it was my dinner. He apologized but did nothing about it. The burger was small and dry but ok but you would think for $13 they could at least put a handful of chips on the plate. We won't be returning nor recommending.
My guest and I found Encore to be overrated and overpriced. One bar drink was $13.00, which was outrageous for a bourbon Manhattan. We ordered two of the Manhattans for a total of $26.00. I'm glad I didn't order a second bar drink. The roasted pepper soup was good. We each ordered a bowl for $6.00. We shared the pork shoulder Bolognese, which wasn't large enough to share for a cost of $15.00. We had to ask for a second plate, even though we said at the beginning we'd share this entrée. The kitchen should have split it up, but they didn't. Nothing else came with the entrée. The pork shoulder Bolognese was flavorful and the meat was cooked well with sauce, but it wasn't a decent sized serving. It was all bowl with a little food tucked inside. We asked the server for bread, and she said the restaurant didn't serve bread with the meals. Too bad. We both love bread with soft butter or oil for dipping. We did splurge and order cheesecake. It was a small slice on a large, rectangle plate, not really enough to share, but it did taste good. We liked it. It wasn't New York style cheesecake as the server said it was. My guest and I both left hungry. The menu had a lot of different items. Saturday night was busy due to concerts, but as the time for the concerts approached, the place cleared out. We did have a reservation, and the host at the desk, didn't really know what to do with us. We were on time, but apparently, a table wasn't reserved for us. It seemed like they seated people who walked in and disregarded the reservation. It was almost like, 'Find a table and let me know where they are seated.' It worked out. Our four top table was fine and I did request a four top for the extra room. Our server did a good job. She was busy with other tables, and she was attentive to us, making us feel welcome.
