Homemade Ice Cream & Pie Kitchen

I love this place but I was just informed that they are no longer making the Upside Down Snickerdoodle Cupcake which is the worlds greatest dessert!!! So sad, I've been telling people about the Pie Kitchen for years, but only get to experience it when traveling through. Bring back the Snickerdoodle!!!!!

Our daughter turned us onto the Homemade Ice Cream & Pie Kitchen for some seriously amazing pies and cake during our latest visit to Louisville. I got the Chocolate Cake with Buttercream Frosting which was dense rich and delicious. My wife got the Dutch Apple with caramel topping and my daughter a Coconut Cream Pie which were also rave-worthy. We sat on the patio and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful weather.

Best grape ice cream on the planet. We would buy bucket fulls if they had them. My husband can't get enough being a grape flavored fanatic. I introduced him to this store a few years back, it's been his go to since he tells everyone he knows and meets about this particular flavored ice cream. Other flavors are great but this is out of this world, try it as a sample; it will become addictive.

One young woman who served me only had 1 glove on her hand and used her bare unwashed hands to give me a waffle cone. When I asked her if she washed her hands she said there were 3 sinks behind her but I noticed that she didn’t wash her hands between handling the customers, POS system and handling the food! She basically gaslit me to believe that she had washed them. I watched her make ice cream for other customers and not once did she wash her hands before handling waffle cones with her dirty hand/s that had most likely touched cash, one of the dirtiest and nastiest things you can touch before touching food. The one hand that she had the glove on she didn’t use to handle the food. Not to mention she had fingernail polish that was chipping and she was handling the food with bare hands! Please there needs to be a reeducation on food handling. I threw away the waffle cone due to the lack of sanitation even though I paid for it.

The Brownie a la mode with chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and cherry on top is chocolate perfection! The brownie is rich true brownie texture frosted top warmed up. Then vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and cherry. You can choose your ice cream flavor and toppings.
We sat outside at one of the concrete tables and watched the sunset as we enjoyed our evening! We love Homemade Ice Cream & Pie Kitchen! It has a home plus vintage ice cream shop vibe.

Great customer service!! They have the best peach pie. Definitely get it a la mode!

Came and got some caramel cakes and ice cream, treats were great but the girl that was helping us on this saturday evening was rude and rushing us through our order, when we were ordering she kept interrupting and saying “anything else” while we were trying to give her our order. Did not feel welcomed probably will have to try another location in the future

milkshakes were great... pies were so good my relatives ate both before I got to try a piece!

James was great. Very patient and answered all of our questions. He went above and beyond so we could get our delicious ice cream home without wearing it. 😁

If you love the smell of sewer gas this is the place to go. On a serious note the food is delicious but the smell is horrible.

Brittany at Fern Creek store was amazing. She was very helpful and professional and got us together for last minute treats for our son’s birthday!
