Our server/bartender made the night perfect. We were a party of 6 and sat at the round table which made talking to everyone easy. All dishes and drinks were wonderful. It was a snowy, cold night so there were only a few tables which made for a quiet dinner.

I can't believe I ate Lima beans!! That is how awesome this place can make something I have hated my whole life taste! Imagine what they can do with normal food items. Went to Mayan Cafe when in NuLu and didn't plan ahead. None of the restaurants that take reservations had anything available. We tried Mayan Cafe because of the good ratings and because they didn't take reservations. From the moment we walked in we had a great experience!! Fantastic, friendly service. We were able to get a table outside on the patio under the heaters and were all comfortable even though it was November They brought some of their Lima beans for us to try and I was shocked at how great they were! Our group of 6 shared several appetizers and a few entrees. The Cochinita Pibul (pork entree) was incredible as was the butternut squash soup (possibly the best I have ever had). I highly recommend Mayan Cafe if you are in Louisville!!!

Went for Thanksgiving. Meal a bit salty and basic Good ambiance and liquor. I'd come back in the summer.

We had Thanksgiving dinner and the Arugula and beet salad to start was fantastic. Our guests enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.

What a wonderful and interesting Thanksgiving dinner! The had a set menu with choice of meat and dessert, and it was all delicious! Will definitely be back for their regular menu! Oh, and their Manhattan is awesome!

The food used be much better here. I was disappointed and underwhelmed on my visit this past week.

Great sever, very good food and wine, albeit a bit overpriced on the wine, although it was very testy. All told, calm, quiet, attentive, and lively experience.

Cannellini beans were not cooked. Hard. Chef was offended by my comments and acted like I just didn't know good food. They gave me another side but it was not very good either. Definitely not worth the money.

Small place with this warm, earthy vibe — smells like roasted peppers and lime the second you walk in. I got the cochinita pibil and a mezcal cocktail; both were unreal. Everything feels thoughtful but unfussy. Staff actually seems proud of what they serve, which you don’t see everywhere. One of those dinners that sticks with you for a while.

I was quite pleased to find one of the best rated restaurants in Louisville just over a block from my hotel. I asked the front desk for a couple recommendations and was told “a staff and local favorite” so went for it. I decided to sit at the bar which is around back in another larger dining area that is open in the summer and per the staff enclosed in the winter. It had a great feel with a tile work on the bar, blue and white lighting, and wood walls and ceiling.

i was promptly greeted and selected my seat. I’d looked at the menu on line but asked about the Lima beans and for thoughts on the menu. Almost all is local (fish and some other items are obvious exceptions). The farm and farmer are listed on many, Chad the bartender knew the farms and offered his thoughts. In the end I decided on the pork tenderloin with a side of Lima beans.

Everything was delicious, the pork was tender and flavorful and is marinated in in a unique way. The black beans were delicious , the guacamole was unlike any I’ve had an complemented the rest of the dish which also included some greens, a roasted carrot, and rice. Lastly I had a side of Lima beans (also local) which were firm, roasted in a sesame seed, oil with scallions, cilantro, and other flavors that came together in an amazing way.

Clearly not what most of us think of when it comes to Mexican food but all authentic flavors that made dinner one of my top dining experiences of the year.

Thank you all for an amazing dinner, great service, and an enjoyable experience. I will return next time in the area.
