Mayan Cafe is a bustling restaurant in the heart of Louisville’s Butchertown neighborhood. Setting the name of the neighborhood aside, Mayan Cafe provides a traditionalist take on Mexcian cuisine that offers plant-based options to indulge. The downside being that there are only a few vegan options (more if you are looking for vegetarian selections), but the quality of the food makes up for the choices. This is a restaurant that can actually cook octopus. I have not had octopus this good since I ordered it on the docks of Crete. The meat was so tender you could cut it with a butter knife and it fell apart in your mouth. Highly recommend.

Very cute, clean, aesthetic restaurant. Nice outdoor space with the patio overlooking the pool. I love the vibe and everyone inside being dressed to fit the space not too casual. You can tell they pay attention to details with this curated menu.
