Best cocktails in Louisville and the food is great. The po boy and fried catfish are both A+. Potato salad in gumbo isn't my favorite but they clearly know more about food than I do.
Not with the cost . Delfriscos remains the best for
Me .
Absolutely loved the experience! The service was top-notch, the food exceeded all my expectations, and the atmosphere was simply electric. Can't wait to go back!.
This was my second time going and I was really disappointed. First time my wife and I split the charcuterie board, cup of gumbo, and a bottle of wine. We were seated immediately and our server was great. Food is good, but way overpriced (most everything on their menu is). The next time I came I had upgraded my ID and the DMV gave me a temp paper one. I was already let down on the wait time to be seated. Almost every table was wide open, and several spaces at the bar were as well. A woman had been waiting for several minutes in front of me and a gentleman entered about 5 minutes after me. This is not a big space, so the three of us were cramped in their entryway waiting for someone to seat us. The servers kept saying they’d be right with us, but it took entirely too long considering how dead they were. Finally, after they tried to seat the gentleman who came in behind me first, I was told I could sit anywhere I wanted (why make us wait if you could have just told all of us that?) I ordered a cup of gumbo and water. I noticed they had $2 domestic bottled beers on the happy hour menu, and decided I’d have one. This is where everything came to a head—this restaurant does not take the paper temporary ID if you just got your real ID for travel. Really frustrating considering it’s a legal document and they served me an entire bottle of wine a week ago. I’ll be back when I get my physical copy to give them a chance to redeem themselves, but it’ll be hard to win over a higher review.
Good atmosphere. Four of us ate there before a show downtown and looked forward to good meal. All the food did not come out at once. My wife had to wait for her salad while we got all our food. Came out about 10 min later and server said having issues in kitchen. My friend had seafood linguini which had scallops. The scallops were not washed properly and had sand in them. I had a swordfish special and the fish could not have been more dry. Crumbled apart as you ate it.
Our experience at North of Bourbon was truly exceptional and undoubtedly a highlight of our trip to Louisville. I highly recommend making a reservation, as it ensures you won’t miss out on this fantastic spot.
The cocktail selection is impressive, featuring high-quality drinks that are both creative and delicious. The extensive bourbon menu is a bourbon lover's dream, offering countless options to explore.
One of the standout dishes was the baked oysters on special with cheese and jam—absolutely out of this world! We also indulged in the duck gumbo and scallop tostada, both of which were incredibly flavorful and left us wanting more.
The service was top-notch; the staff was attentive and friendly, enhancing our overall experience. Plus, the unique seating option of whiskey barrels for dinner added a fun and memorable touch to our evening. Overall, North of Bourbon is a must-visit destination for anyone in the area!
OMG I just had the best grits I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE, man they were SOOOO GOOD! The catfish nuggets were also amazing, beautiful presentation, and the bourbon selection is what you would come to expect from a place called North of bourbon, sipped on a 10 year Pappy! If I lived here I would be here once a week easlily, coming back tomorrow NO DOUBT!!!
A very creative chef, with delicious food and excellent service, highly recommend.
Best Bangalore for the buck in Louisville. Great bourbon selection with some rare only found here labels. Phil from Chicago is a gem.
Absolutely fantastic atmosphere and lighting! Busy and fun yet professional feeling! The staff are very welcoming and kind. We didn't have a reservation and they still went above and beyond with service and getting us a seat.
Our server explained the specials and the pour of the week along with the base menu. They very careful and accommodating with allergies! Any issues we had they fixed immediately.

This is a hidden gem everyone should find. The food was incredible - great unique flavors and options. We had their osyster special, unique take on caesar salad, and the catfish nuggets. Save room for cheesecake it was amazing. They feature over 300 bourbons and have delicious tasting mixed drinks.
Got to sit up at the bar tonight with no reservation and was wowwed the entire night. Loved everything about this place top to bottom and will be back.
This is a really cool place to visit. The best way I can describe the food menu is eclectic. But it’s really good. As for the Bourbon mix, too many to count which made it a great time ordering different brands. Staff was great! The code took time to go over some of the local history and discuss bourbons at length. Definitely will visit again!
We happened to find this small bourbon bar in an old district of the city. The food was beyond expectations as we had oysters and cat fish done up in traditional southern style. James, our bartender was happy to create NOB's famous old fashions, and guide us towards some unique pours. The entire staff was on point.
The owner Eric, sat with us and told us his story, and the bar is decorated beautifully.
We (4 Canadian curlers) loved this bar so much we returned the following night and were not disappointed. I highly recommend this establishment for any, and all, who visit Loiusville. If you are looking for a finely crafted cocktail, and gourmet dinner, or the best selection of bourbon, try North of Bourbon, Louisville Kentucky's best spot to enjoy, food, drink and company.
Came to visit from Indy, best food I've ever had! Service was amazing as well as the atmosphere! 10/10 recommend.
