Service and atmosphere of the bar was great! Very nice people. The regular bread sliders were pretty good (I'm told). The gluten free bread was just okay. Taste and texture akin to an undercooked homemade biscuit, but it was certainly better than no option at all! We had banana pork, halloumi, and venison & pork. The pork was the standout - very good! I can only imagine how delicious the pork belly is. They have gf fryers for the tators and fries, but everything else is fried in the shared fryer. There were a couple options that were technically gf but were in the shared fryer; so they were cross contaminated. Service staff were great! They answered all my questions and were very accommodating. Not sure why Google lists this as a "new American" restaurant. It seems to very clearly be a Nordic restaurant of some sort...?
Dietary restrictions: For the most part; the items that are NOT fried are gluten free. Fries and tots are in a gf fryer.

Definitely worth checking out!
We went here a few weeks ago and it was okay at best, they didn’t have their usual bread for what we ordered so maybe that’s why? It’s not a place I would ever go again. I like my bars cozy and warmly lit, this gave more dive bar feels. The Norwegian alcohol was not good imo, tasted like flavored rubbing alcohol. Bar tender was nice tho.

Great food, service and value. This was our first visit and will now be frequenting the restaurant. We had a great time and really good food. Don't miss the kale salad as a side.
I placed a to-go order from Oskar’s Slider Bar this evening for dinner , intending to enjoy a meal with my husband. I’ve had their food before and enjoyed it, so I was looking forward to this treat. However, this experience was deeply disappointing.
On my way to pick up the order, I got lost. Since Oskar’s only accepts online orders, there was no way to call and inform them about the delay or request to keep the food warm. By the time I arrived, 20-30 minutes late, I went to the bar to explain the situation and asked if the food could be remade or at least warmed up. To my surprise, the manager, Kyle, refused to remake the food and only offered to warm the tater tots. Unfortunately, the sandwiches remained cold, and the overall quality of the meal was subpar due to this lack of consideration.
What made the experience even worse was Kyle’s attitude. His demeanor was rude, and the customer service left much to be desired. On a day when I wanted to celebrate and enjoy myself, the lack of empathy and unwillingness to accommodate a reasonable request was frustrating.
Overall, while I’ve enjoyed Oskar’s in the past, this experience completely changed my opinion. The poor customer service overshadowed the quality of the food, and I would not recommend this place based on how the situation was handled. There are many other establishments in Louisville with better service and a customer-first attitude.

I’ve gotten to visit Oskar’s on a few occasions and it is always a treat. Recently two friends and I went for lunch and enjoyed their sliders, perfectly-fried tots, and that fabulous smoky ketchup.
I deducted one star only because they were out of all three preferred beverages (Prickly Pear Margarita, Michelob Ultra, Gravely Debaser as listed on the online draft menu). We found substitutes but it was disappointing that they were out of all three preferred drinks.
We did try the norden aquavit flight and I learned I am not a fan of aquavit. That stuff is too strong for me! But each one had a unique flavor with herbs and what tasted like natural flavorings The little stemmed glasses were adorable.
Our server was outstanding - attentive but not intrusive. The place has a wonderful vibe with the decor (sconces, drawing by bathroom) and the lovely carved bear.

Food is great! However, anytime the restaurant is slightly busy it gets chaotic quickly.

The lighting was so dim that my son used his phone flashlight to see the menu. It was difficult to see what you were eating. It was also very cold.

ALL Lives Matter. Take the politics out of your restaurant, please.
Food is GREAT. Music is GREAT. Price is ever high but the bigger issue is inflated tip suggestion. Math disagrees. Fifteen to twenty percent of inflated Bidenomics means a larger $$ tip, not less. This is a law of commutation.
"# How Mathematics and Commutation Work
In mathematics, **commutation** refers to the property of operations where the order of the operations does not affect the result. This is true for some operations like addition and multiplication.
For example:
- Commutative Property of Addition:
a + b = b + a
- Commutative Property of Multiplication:
a * b = b * a
However, not all operations are commutative. For example, subtraction and division are not:
- Subtraction: a - b ≠ b - a (unless a = b)
- Division: a / b ≠ b / a (unless a = b)
# Inflation, Tip Percent, and Food Prices
When discussing inflation, **inflation** refers to the general rise in prices over time, which reduces the purchasing power of currency. For example, if food prices increase by 10% due to inflation, the cost of the same meal would now be 10% higher than before. This is a simple application of percentage increase.
When it comes to tipping:
- **Tip Percent**: A typical custom is to tip a percentage (often 15-20%) of the food bill. If the food price increases due to inflation, the tip would also increase, reflecting the rise in the total cost.
- **Double Gouging**: Some argue that when both food prices and tip percentages are inflated, it results in **double gouging**. This happens when a restaurant raises the price of food (due to inflation) and then, the same percentage tip is applied to a higher bill, further increasing the cost to the consumer. For example:
- Original meal price: $20
- Tip at 20%: $4
- New meal price after inflation: $25
- Tip at 20% on new price: $5
This results in the consumer paying more for the same value, both due to the increased price and the higher tip percentage on the inflated bill.
# In Summary:
Inflation raises the cost of goods and services, including food, and can result in higher tips. However, raising both food prices and tip percentages at the same time can lead to "double gouging," which many consider unfair.

Instead of regular cold weather Kentucky fare, Oskars brings reasonably priced sliders with Icelandic flavors from fiskefrikadeller to banana pork. Pair with an Einstock white ale and Swedish beet salad (it has just enough apple to sweeten the pickled beets and make an experience you wouldn't expect and won't soon forget). Finish with a smirk cookie and the Mirror Twins Porchata porter beer with the milky sweetness and cinnamon spice expected in an horchata. Skal!

The "atmosphere" is fine... The tables and chairs look and feel like they belong in an 80s pizzeria, and are showing the wear and tear of being older, outdated, and not the best. And if that makes you not want to eat here, you are a damaged person... This food is amazing. As in, making a good run for best burgers in the city amazing. The prices are reasonable, the selection has something for everybody, and the staff are wonderful. But... My friend, Bro, Dude, Bruh... The food... This is 'why didn't anybody tell me it was this good' level. This is 'why did I wait so long to try it' level. If you haven't been here for the food, you are failing at life
The sliders are absolutely delicious. Each has a unique flavor profile. Paired with one of their tap beers, if you're a beer drinker, is an extraordinary experience. Service was equally outstanding.
