Dont remember going to there

Strictly gay guy, I gained citizenship and have lived in Louisville for the past three years. Went there with boyfriend of two years as it’s a known gay bar in town and we wanted to watch the drag show. An hour and a half in was brought aside by bouncers saying I had been inappropriate to girls, even though I hadn’t so much as spoken to a woman that night, I am gay and was with my boyfriend dancing and drinking the whole time. Ended up kicked out of the bar. Maybe they got the wrong guy but still unacceptable situation. Was not blacklisted but will never go back there because this ruined our night. Being a brown man from the far east I think this was the racism the talk about in America.

I absolutely love club play, I’ve been coming since I was 19 years old. The show is something magical. But for the past few years I’ve watched (African American) performers come and go. I acknowledged and have gotten several reasons. But it makes no sense. This past weekend I paid for a vip seating two reserved tables for family and friends. And I was sad because I was told before the first show that Diana Rae is no longer preforming. One of the most talented people with the biggest heart and open mind. She was popular to my the African American community of preforming at her best in the drag show at play. Countless nights waiting on her performance to give her $100+ in ones. It was very sad but also confusing. I immediately left I didn’t even want my reservation. I love the show absolutely but to see my people of color makes it even better. Speaking to other performers they were very upset she was fired as well and said “they needed a reason and when they had one they let her go” smh. It hurt to hear. So I no longer will be going back to club play.

I go there to have fun. I never felt unsafe or unwelcome. All the workers are nice. The club is setup good. You drink, chill, dance and watch shows. I like going to the same bartender and tipping everyone dollar bills. It gets kinda crazy but its all fun crazy. Thank you owner. Keep up the good work. This is the best club in Louisville. Good location, good parking, good club, and good people.

Beware of car thieves & car break ins. It’s been 4 weeks since cars have been broken into back to back and our finally did. Police are sometimes here and still nothing changes. Felt very unsafe at night with no cameras in the parking lot so just be careful and vigilant of where you park.

Always have a good time at Play!! Vibes are always there, they have security when you walk in. There are multiple rooms to be in & outdoor patio as well. The main stage room is the most popular one & when there is intermission the dance floor room fills up quickly. The bartender are great & friendly. I got this drink they had on the counter already mixed, that sounded good. The bartender told me to try it first to see if he needs to fix it, it was lil tart at first but he added something & mixed it up & it was perfect! We had a great time & enjoyed the performers & a bit of dancing.

I love a gay/club drag bar but other than Mykul V the drag show was very blahhhhh compare to Nashville, TN. Step game up……

As a first timer, I was excited to enjoy a safe space in the only lgbt establishment that allows 18+. I thoroughly enjoyed the performers and most of the staff were very nice, except for one security guard, Daniel. When I left around 1:15 am and I, along with a family member were accused of taking off wristbands that we had no knowledge off. If the establishment reads this they should check the cameras after 11 pm and before 1:20 am (12/23/2023). When we first entered an older relative asked if there was a different cover fee for anyone underaged and was told it was the same $15. The staff that checked our ids and asked if it was our first time never let us know about the wristbands. Daniel said that he specifically put the bands on us but we didn’t even recognize him. We even went to the entrance security guard because he was the one that we had seen before. I understand if it was a mistake but that doesn’t excuse the uncalled rude behavior towards us from the beginning. I had thought of coming again with my friends but that attitude and service left me a very bad taste.

Magical bday night out!! We had a booth and Amanda was attentive and adorable to boot! Daniel/Davita ensured our safety and played EXCELLENT Host! Lastly, Leah Halston made DAMN sure I had a good time with her usual and side splitting antics and jokes. Thank yall for EVERYTHING you are and do. Me and my guests had the best time. See yall in January! -❤️- Amanda
