My fiancé and I visited Kentucky in April for the Mike Epps show.On Sunday we were hankering for some good soul food we looked this place up and thought we would give it a try.This is the worst food I have ever had and I had such high hopes we got smothered pork chops chicken wings chitterlings greens which had raw tomato and onion on top?mac n cheese and hot water cornbread EVERYTHING was soooo blah.The staff was also very rude.I wish I would have went to KFC for the $20 fill up lol instead of spending $60 on the worst soul food I ever had.It left me wondering is this what Louiseville considers good?

Being from Mississippi I wasn't impressed with the food.Although the chitterlings was some of the best I've had.Everything else was not as advertised.The reviews said it was the best soul food in Louisville.I haven't been to many soul food restaurants in Louisville but I know that was not true.I did enjoy sitting outside waiting on the food.

chicken and dumplings was smacking i’m not going to score on the green beans bc they was cold with no juice on them to keep them hot and not very favorable. They also aren’t cut down enough so it’s like they lay a few in the bowl for $4. please get those right bc we need fat, juice and seasoning in our green beans. Love this place tho and the service is good

The grape Kool-Aid will make you slap your mama in the hot water, cornbread and beans. Oh my God they are to die for the fried chicken is delicious. Also, I love it all.
The chicken and greens was cooked well but not seasoned. The mac and cheese was ok. I expected it to be baked. The sweet potatoes was good. This place is takeout only with outdoor seating
This place has gone down. I got the same meal I’ve always gotten from there in the past 15 years and the chicken was barely cooked. I could still taste the grittiness from the flour. The greens were terrible in taste. The only thing good ish was the Mac and cheese. Tried to ask for a refund and was told I could just get another plate. There wasn’t a sign anywhere saying refunds weren’t allowed so I was confused. To avoid issues I did get another plate, ribs. They were tough an over cooked. The sauce was good. I called it a loss an just left. This place is historic but it’s sad to see the quality go down

The the whole sad thing about going to Shirley Mae's now is got there at 8:00 ordered the so-called manager the guy at the door rude disrespectful waiting an hour for our food everybody that was four people came after we was there get their food before going to try to tell me or where everybody can't wait

Mannnnnnn let me tell you. The food there was absolutely amazing. The banana pudding is like my great grandma used to make, and even after you put it in the refrigerator, it's absolutely an amazing treat. I'm definitely coming back to try everything I can on their menu.

The prices and service were beyond exceptional. This place lets the cooking speak for itself. It was very refreshing to see a place that only accepts cash and shoots the savings down to the customer.
