So delicious and our waitress was the sweetest. Our favorites were the stracciatella, pork belly, and pastas! This was the perfect spot for a romantic dinner.

After seeing the good reviews for Perso, my husband and I were excited to try it. Unfortunately, it was underwhelming.
Our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable, but it looked like she had to manage a great deal of tables. As a result we found ourselves waiting a lot. Especially for our food. We ordered the pork belly appetizer, my husband ordered the short rib, and I got their shrimp and grits. Despite asking for the pork belly as an appetizer, everything came together. I was surprised that a place with a prix fixe menu wouldn't try to pace things better.
The pork belly was rubbery and the fat wasn't rendered at all. We love a good fatty pork belly, but there was no crisp and it was bland. There was way too much of it.
The shrimp and grits was so disappointing because the shrimp themselves were excellent. Perfectly cooked and on their own they tasted great. Unfortunately they were stuck in a pool of what tasted like vinegary hot sauce that overwhelmed the flavor. I was also perplexed that I was only given 5 shrimp of varying sizes for the cost of the meal. Another review showed a picture with NINE shrimp. I am fine with five shrimp if they were all that same large size, but the fifth one was literally half the size of the first. They hid them under a pile of wilted herbs.
My husband's short rib was under seasoned and he had a small portion of short rib drowned in their puree. The red wine reduction was thin and sparse disappointingly.
But hey their brownie was good. I wouldn't call that a tiramisu and it was like two bites. But it was a decent two bites.
The biggest thing for us was just all of those issues for the cost. My shrimp and grits was $39. $39 for mismatched shrimp, wilted herbs, a bunch of vinegar, and some ok grits. There weren't even vegetables or anything to contrast it, it was poorly composed for $39. Similarly, my husband's short rib was $45 and he remarked that our favorite short rib across town gives triple the portion, double the seasoning, and is under $30.
This place is so loud when it fills up and the tables crammed together. We learned all about the business investments of the table across our partition, good luck to them. Maybe we just got a bad night for Perso, but I'm really not willing to go back and see if it was a fluke.

Perso is an absolute gem. Chef treats every single ingredient as a star. The service was outstanding. I would recommend letting Chef take the wheel of your dining experience and do the Chef's Table menu. Outstanding value and wonderful experience.

My husband and I checked out Perso for an early birthday dinner for me. The building is gorgeous, the service was fantastic, and the food/drinks were phenomenal! We will definitely be back in the future.

Perso was the perfect date night dinner to treat my significant other. The drinks were strong, yet bursting with flavor and aromas that complimented our meal. I got the duck confit and it was executed masterfully. The farro soaked in the cooking juices, and the crispy duck was to die for. My girlfriend had the baked pasta and the bolognese was easily one of the best bites of pasta I’ll ever have in my life. There was some chilled burrata to mix into the dish, taking it to another level. Come to perso to treat yourself or show someone a little love.

The pork belly appetizer was undercooked, all fat. The pork chop was unavailable with corn chowder (per the menu)so ordered duck confit which was cold when served, we have never sent anything back/ complained, we asked for to go boxes(to properly cook later) and paid our bill with decent tip and left, will not be back.

I have been to Perso several times and it is consistently spectacular. The restaurant space is small, but inviting with a rustic Mediterranean atmosphere. The staff is pleasant, attentive, and always helpful. Now, for the food: the food can best be described as exquisite. The chef delicately marries vibrant and daring culinary techniques with rich comfort food in a way that is elevated, but not fussy or pretentious. The food is serious, but there is a slight "devil-may-care" tenor undergirding it all. The result is a truly enjoyable and, at times, epiphanic experience. Everything on the menu divine, however, the clams pizza, the soft baked egg, and the roasted octopus are out of this world. Perso is one of the first places I recommend out of towners to eat when visiting. Louisville is lucky to have a place like this.

Recently I went on a culinary adventure at Perso in Louisville, a hidden gem nestled at 741 E Oak St. in Louisville, Kentucky. I went there with the best group of neighbors you could ever ask for. We were celebrating two birthdays and had the incredible opportunity to dine in a private room with a dedicated chef.
From the moment we stepped into the intimate dining space, we were transported into a culinary wonderland. Our chef, a true artist in the kitchen, curated a series of courses that delighted our taste buds and kept us engaged for over three hours. Each dish was a masterpiece, featuring a variety of infused flavors, including duck, pork, chicken, liver, and an array of pickled delicacies.
I must admit, I overindulged. The temptation to try everything was simply too great! From the delicate balance of flavors in the appetizers to the rich and satisfying entrees, every bite was a memorable experience. And let's not forget the delightful conversations and laughter shared with my friends. It was a truly special evening.
If you're seeking a unique and unforgettable dining experience in Louisville, Perso is a must-visit. The personalized attention, exceptional cuisine, and intimate atmosphere make it a truly extraordinary place to celebrate special occasions or simply savor a memorable meal.

When I feel low-key fancy, I go to Perso. I always go early and sit at the bar. Jennifer is the awesome person who took care of me this evening. I chose the roasted octopus with beef tongue for my entree, and it was dynamite. The intimate and bustling vibes remind me so much of our old De La Torres / La Bodega on Bardstown Road. Perso is a treasure indeed.
