Really cool atmosphere, great cocktails. Bar tenders are very helpful and knowledgeable. Stated long enough for my husband and I to each have 3 drinks that were all different. They were all great in their own ways. Definitely a “Must Visit” place in Louisville.

My husband and I decided on a whim to go to late night drinks (I wish I could remember her name, but she has almost like a wing style tattoo on her right arms and glasses) she was so sweet!!!! It was a beautiful atmosphere, I had a none alcohol drink, and it was so delicious. My husband had 3 drinks, and 1 of them were not on the menu that she created. Absolutely delicious, we will definitely go again.Edit: eat before you go, they have small bar snacks (we got a $14 charcuterie board in a box, and it was so pretty) but definitely eat a meal

Stepping into Tartan House Bar is like discovering a hidden gem in the heart of Slugger City. This quaint, characterful spot exudes a warmth and charm that's instantly inviting. Jeff, the bartender made us perfectly balanced martinis and a rich, complex Negroni, each drink is a testament to his skill and passion. The ambiance of Tartan House is equally commendable. It's a space where time seems to slow down, allowing for the kind of easy, unhurried conversation that's become a rarity in our fast-paced world. The absence of a food menu, save for simple snacks like chips and peanuts, might initially seem like a drawback. However, this only underscores Tartan House's dedication to what they do best - crafting exceptional drinks. The whiskey selection deserves a special mention. It's a carefully curated assortment that can satisfy both the casual drinker and the seasoned connoisseur. Tartan House is now a must-visit destination on my Louisville list, a place where the drinks are on point and the welcome is warm.

We enjoyed the atmosphere and the cocktails, but the bartender was very rude and not helpful. She was nice to her friends that were drinking at the bar, but very rude to us. I guess we didn't fit in with the local crowd as we were traveling from out of state.

Really cool spot. Great vibes and love the decor. I went on a Sunday evening and it wasn't very busy. I got a chance to chat with one of the owners (working the bar) and he made me an off-menu cocktail. They opened in August 2023 and they seem to be doing well - 100% would go again.
Ambiance is exceptional. Feels very much like a speak easy with a high end and slightly Victorian environment. While it could be described as a shotgun bar, Tartan House delivers an engaging intimate experience that is unique and worth a visit.

I love this place earlier on in the evening. It's a perfect stop to start your night, they have a great selection of cocktails to pick from. If you don't see something of interest on the menu, you can let the bartenders know what you like and they'll whip something up for you. My drink has been a hit each time I've done this. Due to the nature of how involved the cocktails are and each time we've only seen one bartender, drinks can take awhile. Be patient. The drinks are good; just bring good company to keep you occupied. :) Note: It gets a bit too loud later in the evening. We found ourselves having to shout over other groups to try to have any form of communication. Nothing against the place, this is just a note for those who planned to have a few drinks and chat -- might not work out well for you.

Update 12/23/23: We had great service today! The bartender was really friendly and she even suggested drinks to us based on our personal taste. We had some friends visiting and wanted to give tartan house another try, they did not disappoint. This will definitely be on our short list of places to frequent.The cocktails were good and the music was a vibe. Our group tried 10 different cocktails from the menu and we enjoyed them all, the flavors were well-balanced and not too sweet. However, the service left a lot to be desired. The bartender was uninterested in being there and any questions about the cocktail menu were met with a dismissive attitude. I like supporting new local businesses, so even with the subpar service I will probably be back in a few months and hopefully able to update this with a more glowing review of their service.
