Today I visited the Fishhouse with my mother, who was ordering takeout. After placing her order, she realized she had been overcharged. The gentleman at the counter refunded her $5.00, but there were still a few cents missing. I chose not to press the issue further at the time.
Shortly afterward, my cousin, who was also placing an order, noticed she had been overcharged as well—by $1.00 that was because I mentioned that she was overcharged also. While the gentleman refunded her, his response came across as somewhat dismissive, with little explanation or apology. Regardless of intent, customers deserve accuracy and acknowledgment when mistakes happen, especially when it involves their money.
Both my mother and cousin also mentioned that this was not the first time they had experienced overcharges at this location. Given this, I would strongly recommend that customers double-check their receipts.
The gentleman assisting us appeared to be older, and while I respect his efforts, perhaps additional support or updated equipment (such as a modern cash register that calculates change automatically) could help prevent these recurring issues. Accuracy and transparency go a long way toward building trust with customers.

They can make nearly everything gluten free, and they take celiac preparations. The owner’s family member is celiac. I cannot express how thankful I am to be able to have a gluten free hush puppy! The fish is very fresh, and the french fries were perfect. The prices are also a huge bonus; it is so inexpensive for the quality and quantity of food given. Love the self serve tartar stations with lemon slices provided. The only negative is the use of styrofoam. For environmental purposes, I would love to see a different material other than styrofoam and plastic everywhere.

A Louisville classic. Our go to is the fried scrod sandwich and a clam strip basket with a side of hush puppies. If the phone is busy just go do a takeout order there, it doesn't take 10 minutes for them to get your food to you, hot and fried and delicious.

Do not order Catfish,The Catfish is Swai Fish,nothing against them,cause most fast food restaurants does this....The only fast food restaurants that serve real Catfish is Captains D's.Other than that they are Great !!!! I will get the regular Fish next time

The staff was super nice. The prices were way better than most other places right now. The portions were very respectable. And the food was phenomenal. The fried catfish was the best I've ever eaten. It was so fresh and lightly breaded. If I'm ever in the area again I'm definitely going back. Thanks for a great experience.

We drove up tonight for dinner. 2 of us have Celiac Disease and we were so excited for delicious gluten free fish,fries and hush puppies! We will definitely be back and bring my mom who is also gluten free! The rest of the family enjoyed too!

Had lunch today and ask Dave what he recommended I had never been there, he suggested the fish and shrimp combo! It was amazingly delicious and staff was great, I lived in the area for a long time and wish I had tried it way before now!! Plan to return soon very soon

As a man who was raised in Louisiana, this is the closest you’ll get to that seafood experience. My buddy from New Orleans called this spot looking for pepper jelly shrimp tacos. They didn’t have it on menu but said if I bring in some tortillas, they can make it happen for a very reasonable price. I came in the next day with tortillas and the experience was phenomenal. Everyone working here is clearly very friendly & comitted to ensuring customers leave satisfied. I won’t be ordering seafood anywhere else (shoutout to the man running the show for letting me get a pic to send to my buddy).
