We have eaten at Varanese a few other times and have always had a good experience. Last night not so much. We had a party of 6, and arrived before the crowd, only a few other tables were there. Service was excellent, food we had lots of issues with. Ordered 3 appetizers and they came out pretty quick. The entrees on the other hand seemed to take close to 45 mins. to arrive. 5 of us received our food with the 6th persons not arriving until 10-15 mins later, totally unacceptable., his entree was on the specials menu. The food he received was terrible, not sure what happened in the kitchen with his food. Several others in our party said their food was just mediocre. It's to bad, our waitress was very good and asked about the food that arrived late and he told her it was bad. They did comp that dish off the ticket which was appreciated. Overall my husband and I were unhappy with the food quality, not up to what we have experienced there on previous occasions. When you bring a larger party in to celebrate a special occasion and drop a large ticket, walking away unhappy with aspects of the evening are not something you forget easily.

OMG! LOVED IT THERE AND THE BAND MUSIC AND OPEN DOORS WAS FABULOUS!!! THANK WILL FOR US-- BEST WAITER EVER!! said I reminded him of his gf mother so he might remember...whether it's a good or bad impression...just being my honest direct person with no disrespect and hopefully not coming across as being rude...always said thank you with a genuine smile...hope the staff enjoyed the cake and thanks to manager for stopping by and happy birthday to him again and hope he enjoyed HIS day without cake or sweets. I will be back. Wish it was open earlier for lunch as would LOVE to have my upcoming 70th girls lunch there...also the restroom was nice and love the waterfall...Thanks for making my bff retirement dinner a great memory. Yall ROCK!!

Incredible location. Really loved the open atmosphere but largely because it was a perfect night for it. Party of 8 for a business meeting. We were sat quickly and service was great. Fried green tomato salad was great. Salmon on cream cheese grits, phenomenal. Everyone in our party loved it. The only issue was a shortage of beef during our visit. The waitress said they only had one rib-eye left and we were dining at 6:30, a bit peculiar but everyone ended up with something they enjoyed. One party member did accept and order the rib-eye, only to be forced to pick something else.

Live music, food, and old fashioned were all amazing! I had the prosciutto wrapped veal. Super unique, very delicious. The cookie for desert was dry and underwhelming. My sever was super nice!

Varanese is fabulous! Hands down one of best places in town! Never disappoints! We have been dining here frequently several years now, and will continue to do so. The ambience, the service and the quality of food are all top-notch. Dave and his staff always do an excellent job, Attentive, professional, and friendly service. Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious. And they’ve got some of the best cocktails around. Burnt Lemon old-fashioned is one of the best drinks in town! The place looks great with the recent remodeling and refresh, they’ve done a great job and it has made an already great atmosphere even better!

Invited out-of-town guests to dine at Veranese and we were not disappointed. Service was great and attentive. Apps and entrees were very good. Enjoyed some bourbon flights and nice wine. Enjoyed the atmosphere with a jazzy ensemble playing in the background. It was a beautiful evening and all the glass doors were open for a lovely experience. One of my favorite Louisville restaurants!

We went to celebrate our anniversary but had to rush because our granddaughter was going to be on TV...the waiter was wonderful & understood our hurry. I got a salad with chicken & my husband got a rockfish special. Both were very nice. They even brought a special dessert which we gobbled down! We liked their new little room where we were sitting.

The setting and food were amazing at Varanese! It's a great place for date night or a family dinner! The beef tips and tortellini was delicious!

Our meal and drinks were great. Service was also great. We sat at a high top in the bar area and I enjoyed that because it wasn't quite so noisy from the band. It was just right! My wife had the salmon and I had beef tips. Calamari appetizer was also great. Some sort of apple pastry with vanilla ice cream for dessert. We enjoyed ourselves very much, thank you!
