First time eating there, it was great. Those deep fried mushrooms are to die for. Waitress was wonderful.

Outstanding service and food. Definitely don't pass this place up. I tried sweet potato casserole, awesome. We had a large group and we were seated quickly and together. Waitress was outstanding, kept everyone glasses full and food came out hot and correct. Well worth the stop.

Bar in the back is a pretty neat spot. Of all the places in the surrounding area... Have only had one or two mishaps here. Most of the time on point! Don't love the back dining room - if you get stuck back there it kind ruins the vibe.

One of those places that I can't pass by when I am working in Middlesboro... one of my favorites, all around! I keep saying I'm going to try something else, but I can't bring myself to order anything other than the steak! Always done up perfect, and the broccoli with sweet potato is spot on! Love this little jewel of Middlesboro! A must try when in town!

I had the absolute BEST pork chop ever! Ordered the bourbon glaze and it was spot on! Big baked potato that was done and they serve REAL butter for potatoes and bread!
My husband got the Reuben sandwich and said it was also great!
They have a great selection of appetizers as well. Hubby had shrimp and I had cheese curds. We both had to have a good box. Great food and generous portions. Sweet tea like it should be!
Service was impeccable, our waitress Hannah was so attentive (congrats on the baby soon to be here) and everyone checked on us numerous times to see if we needed anything.
I highly recommend this gem of an eatery in Middlesboro, KY.

Our first visit. We drove an hour to try The Shade Steakhouse for a friend's birthday. Everything was so delicious. We will be coming back and telling all our friends about this restaurant.

Mediocre food with outrageous prices. We had steak (NOT cooked as ordered), an appetizer and 2 teas and spent $94. We will not be returning for another visit.

We tried Shades based upon the recommendation of an employee at the National Park Visitors' Center, and we weren't disappointed. We caught them in the mid afternoon, so it wasn't at all busy, and the atmosphere was relaxed. Our server did a great job of making recommendations. My wife had a cheeseburger with fries, and I had the blackened whitefish with sautéed Brussel sprouts and a side of onion rings. Everything was served quickly and fresh, except for my wife's French fries - the only reason I deducted a star on the food grade. They were luke warm, which is too bad because they would have been excellent if they were fresh. They're thick cut and well seasoned. Everything I ordered was excellent, and the onion rings are some of the best I've ever had. The portions are generous, and we both brought home doggy bags. Oh, and I can't forget to mention the fresh bread they serve as an appetizer. Sooo good!
