Had a great lunch here last friday. but was told by our very helpful server she could not accept my cash for payment. The was no such notice on the door when we entered no notice at the table no notice on the menu and the server gave us NO notice when we ordered. My cash says this note is legal tender for all debts public and private. Won't be back till you accept my cash. I.E. Strongs, Lanas, Sis's, Gourmet, Webbs, Newport Pizza, Bakers Table.Pepper Pod, Pasquales, Dixie, La Mexicana, The Press,.

This place has such a great atmosphere! Great food and very friendly and attentive service! Will definitely be returning!

Interesting talk with Master Distiller.

This was an up close and personal experience with the head distiller at Pensive. A very small operation, but steeped in the history of the area, and the Speakeasy tasting room has a very historic feel. It was a great time.

I would give this Distillery 10 stars!! From the moment we walked in we felt like family. Scott and Agnes treated us as is they knew us. From the burger to the flight they both made us feel time wasn’t an issue even though we can in later. Scotr sat and talked with us about the history of the distillery. We will be back and highly recommend this distillery!

Pensive is a fun little “micro” craft distillery with a fun Distillery Tour and hidden Speakeasy tasting room. Our tour guide, Gage, was very fun and informative. I really enjoyed my burger (His Eminence) and the Dark Star Manhattan to accompany it. Definitely a fun experience and enjoyable way to spend the evening!

Excellent tour of their facility. Lots of history of Newport and prohibition. Jeff was an great tour guide. The vodka and the 9 yr bourbon were the best.

Had a wonderful experience here. Lukas, the bartender was welcoming and friendly. We got to meet the owner Scott who told us about the name Pensive and his vision. We also experienced the speakeasy tour which Id recommend. Jeff Cole provided us with an award winning tour and taste testing. 100% recommend visiting and supporting this business.

What a wonderful experience Sammy provided for us upon our visit. She was a wealth of information on the history of the building and makes a banging cocktail. The speakeasy is special…authentic…with an actual bullet still in the wall - you can see the bullet hole. She helped us navigate scheduling the rest of our trip!

We had a private function at the place and it was phenomenal. The room upstairs is cozy and intimate, their bourbon is very good (had tot take a bottle home) and the staff was very friendly.

Cool place and good food! The Old Fashioned was overwhelmingly cherry flavored (cherry bitters). If you like a fruitier flavored Old Fashioned, this would be it. If not, then pick something different from their menu.

My wife and I have done the speakeasy tour, ate at the kitchen and gone in just to grab bottles, we absolutely love it here! The food is wonderful! Some of the best burgers and grilled cheese in the area, arguably one of the best bourbon tours I’ve done and the spirits are undeniably delicious!

We attended the speakeasy tour/tasting. The atmosphere in the speakeasy was incredible. The vinyl records playing further enhanced the atmosphere. Gage did an amazing job of explaining the historical significance of the building as well as the current use of the space. The bourbon was so good that I purchased a souvenir to take home and add to my collection. We ate lunch after the tasting. We were more than impressed with the menu items that we ordered. The entire staff that we interacted with were all very kind and helpful. We will definitely visit Pensive again when in the area.

This cute lil business is full of history and some of the best employees I’ve came across in a long time. My friend and I decided to stop here for the bourbon tasting tour which was packed with a lot of good facts and details. Gage knew his info! The bartender greeted us as we walked in and I was blown away how cute and well detailed the bar was! If you want some great bourbon, vodka or mooonshine stop in. This is a place I can’t stop talking about to my friends!
