El Camino Real Mexican Restaurant

El Camino Real has become my favorite place to go. The food is always delicious and the staff are always attentive and friendly! So glad we have them here in Owensboro.

I went with two others. We were greeted warmly immediately and seated with drink orders taken. The chips were thin hot and crispy and the salsa tasted homemade with a nice kick. Very good appetizer.
The taco salads were large and flavorful but the star of the show was the molcajete. The sizzle lava rock dish was load with shrimp, steak, chicken and chorizo along with cactus onions and peppers. It was a wonderful dish with deep flavors and a rich sauce that formed from a combo of juices and the kick from the chorizo. It was served with a plates of beans and rice and avocado salad and tortillas. There was a little too much fat on the steak, but the overall dish was outstanding and not something seen on many menus. I would absolutely get this dish again.

Great little find! The menu is extensive with lots of options to choose from, so it was hard to decide what to order. The service was quick and very friendly, which made the experience even better.

We ordered the large queso to start and they definitely mean large! Perfect for sharing and really tasty. For my entrée I chose the Azollo Nopal, and it was delicious.

It’s a cute little restaurant tucked inside the Rodeway Inn, which makes it feel like a hidden gem. Prices were very reasonable too. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Have a new favorite Mexican restaurant..... steak fajitas were best I've ever had! TRY IT!!!

Arguably the best Mexican restaurant (not in a Mexican Grocery Store) in Owensboro. Excellent food and great menu. Atmosphere is good but it is inside of a shady hotel but that really does not affect the restaurant or parking. The service is not the best because they are usually very crowded and a little understaffed. Its not that the service itself is bad, they are just busy. They have Excellent homemade salsa that they bring out in individual small jugs so everyone can pour their own. It is great. Their cheese Molcajete with steak, chicken, and chorizo is absolutely phenomenal. Their Quesabirria and their Kentucky Chicken with the Spinach Artichoke Dip topping is a wonderful dish also.

My wife and I came here for an early dinner with our daughter. It is a quaint spot next to what looked like the hotel's breakfast area. We had an carnitas enchilada, chicken chimichanga, and a little cheese quesadilla. Great portions for the price, great flavor.

Wonderful staff, soft and kind; our daughter was missing her fruit, so our waiter brought out a couple orange slices for her. Afterwards, we forgot her toy, and they noticed and brought it out for us before we left! We very much appreciate them.

We highly recommend this place. Thanks for the great food! :)
