Great experience, one of few places that will happily let you sample without paying extra. Their wine is fun and straightforward, this is NOT high brow, snobby WINE! Quite impressive! I admit, I am not knowledgeable in the topic of wine. I only visited because I was enjoying a day with a group of friends. This level of ignorance wasn't something I could hide. The lady was so kind and explained so many 'wine' things to me and offered which ones she thought I might like to taste. I'm so glad she did! I departed with a fresh perspective on wine... and a case of my favorite flavors! We had a lovely time!

We were on vacation staying at Shawnee Forest Preserve in Southern IL and were looking for things to do since it turned out to be a rainy day. I found Purple Toad on Google and we made the hour drive. This place is super cute. We walked in and were automatically greeted. We were invited to try their wine tasting in which they offered a variety of wines, spirits, mulled wine, and even wine slushies. Our bartender Lila (apologies if spelled incorrectly) was an absolute angel on earth! She was so knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. Her hospitality is unmatched. We didn't want to leave. Not only because of the tasty wine, but because of how warm and welcomed we felt. Please please please support this business if you are in the area!

$15 for a bottle of gourmet local wine is an absolute steal. Could easily charge $20-30. We came for my wife’s birthday and Lila was awesome! The wine is excellent and it’s a great environment to sit down and have a bottle with some friends. Not to mention you can try 8 wines for free! 10/10 would recommend

Hi i am Ms. Shirley from Oklahoma a friend gave me this bottle to try straberry lemon margarita i just opened it today the wine is also good an you can taste the flavors in it.
The server provided excellent assistance in selecting the eight wines for the tasting. I anticipate placing an online order upon my return to have those exceptional wines delivered. I look forward to the winery obtaining the necessary licenses to ship bourbons across state lines, similar to the wines, as I am a visitor to Kentucky and departing tomorrow. I will await my next visit to purchase the bourbons, which offered a remarkably smooth and palatable experience. Therefore, if you seek a high-quality, smooth whiskey or bourbon, this establishment is highly recommended. The only suggestion for improvement involves providing seating at the tasting counter, as prolonged standing can be less comfortable.
