Drove about 45 minutes from our cabin to catch the 2p tour and a tasting. Showed up at 1:35. Walked around the lobby area for a few before seeing a not saying to call a number if there’s no worker. Called the number and the phone was in the lobby with us… called a few times, open and closed the door that a had a bell a few times hoping someone would hear. Finally left after 15-20mins of no service. Absolute waste of time

Very much enjoyed our tour this Saturday 5th July. Lindsey was very knowledgeable and explained a lot. I was surprised to see a distillery in a down town location in what, from the front of the street, looked like a regular building. Even had a rick house on top floor.

I appreciate her taking the time to walk us through the tasting experience.
I especially liked the wheated bourbon. Looking forward to trying the bourbon syrup with pancakes. 😃
Recommend the tour.

This tour was a highlight of our girls’ trip! Lindsey was friendly from the time we walked in and super fun throughout our tour! We enjoyed learning about the process and the history of the building. To top it off, we had a great time doing the tasting at the end of the tour and hanging out for a bit chatting with Lindsey and Kate, along with other folks being roped into the conversations. Very comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommend this tour with such a great group of people!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Hartfield & Co. Distillery – A Soulful Journey into Bourbon’s True Roots

Tucked away in the charming town of Paris, Kentucky, Hartfield & Co. Distillery isn’t just a stop on the bourbon trail—it’s a heartfelt return to the spirit’s original soul. As the first licensed distillery in Bourbon County since Prohibition, this place doesn’t just make bourbon—it revives its legacy.

From the moment you walk through the doors, there’s an authenticity you can feel. This is a family-run craft distillery with a deep respect for tradition, crafting pre-Prohibition-style bourbon using time-honored techniques and a whole lot of passion.

🍂 What makes it unforgettable?
Their small batch bourbon captures the warm, grain-forward flavors of a bygone era.
Aged in both 5 and 30-gallon barrels, the whiskey develops rich character without drowning out the soft notes of malted barley.
The single distillation process at barrel-entry proof preserves every layer of complexity. Each sip is smooth, soulful, and seriously memorable.

🥃 The tour? One-of-a-kind.
You don’t just learn about bourbon—you connect with it. From the copper stills to the hands-on stories of how each spirit is made, it’s intimate, educational, and ends with an incredible tasting. And don’t skip the cocktail bar—those pre-Prohibition cocktails are worth the trip alone!

🌟 Favorites from the lineup:
Old Bourbon County Straight Bourbon: Smooth, wheated, with cozy hints of caramel and orange cream.
The Exceptional Barrel: Bold and unforgettable—like discovering a secret stash of something truly rare.
And of course, their classic Pre-Prohibition Style Bourbon—a taste of the past with relevance for today’s palate.

✨ Final thoughts
Visiting Hartfield & Co. felt like stepping into a living piece of bourbon history. It’s a place where stories are told through flavor, and where every bottle carries a sense of pride, craft, and heritage. I left with a deeper appreciation for bourbon—and a bottle I’ll be saving for a special moment.

Highly recommend for bourbon lovers, history buffs, or anyone seeking something truly genuine.

Lindsay was the best tour guide ever. I highly reccomend this tour - very intimate and fun. The cats were adorable and made us want to come back. Leave some time to walk around Paris, KY either before or after the tour to check out the old-timey town.

Had a tasting experience personally curated by Lindsay (sp) last week! Could not have been more enjoyable! Thank you!

Probably one of the best small craft distillers we have visited in and around Lexington. Lindsey did a wonderful job explaining the entire process and giving us a tour of the facility from start to finish. Highly recommend if you’re looking for laid back highly informative experience. The bourbon tasting is a nice way to end the day.

Great small Distillery. The tour was very informative and the first hybrid still that we have seen on the Kentucky Bourbon trail so far. We had a tasting as well and if you like wheated Bourbon, then they have a treat for you.

We came to Hartfield Distillery on a Monday afternoon, which can be tricky since not many distilleries are open for tours that day. Luckily, this small distillery, with only 8 full-time employees, was open, and it ended up being a great find. The bourbons are extremely good, especially the Old Bourbon County, which was amazing. The tour felt very personal and informative, a big contrast to the bigger, more commercial distilleries. The bar and tasting at the end were also a real highlight, informative, and a perfect way to finish the day on a smooth and enjoyable note.

We loved everything about our visit! I was initially skeptical about the young bourbon, the pre-prohibition style spirit, but I absolutely loved it! It has a totally unique flavor.

The building is amazing! If I were a local, I’d definitely be a regular. The newly opened bar space would be my weekly after-work retreat.

Customer service is top-notch—kind, knowledgeable, and attentive.

The glass-headed barrel... I mean, come on! Can't wait for that to be offered.

Enjoying life, one sip, one bite, and one small town at a time. Explore everything!

Put it on your list……Now :)
Lindsey was a fantastic guide and we had a great time on our tour. While it’s a small distillery it was one of most interesting tours have been on. We loved the cats, the pours and the vibe overall! PS - don’t skip out on enjoying a Blackberry Old Fashioned before you leave.

Would definitely recommend. Very cool space and very unique — different vibe from what you get at larger distilleries, much more personal. Lindsey gave a fantastic tour and you can definitely tell their team puts a lot of pride into their craft. Left with the Old Bourbon Co. Single Barrel.

This is not a review of the physical distillery but their Wheated Bourbon. I kept seeing 1-2 of these bottles sitting, collecting dust at my local store for 6-8 months. I found out it was made close to home and I like wheated boubon so I thought, lets give it a try. DONT! Dont buy it! Man, this is the worst bottle in my collection by a large margin. Imagine this, it tastes like someone wrung out a pressure treated piece of lumber and then bottled it. Its that bad. Young, thin, astringent, absolutely flavorless. I wish I could send them this bottle and ask, "Is it supposed to taste like this?"

This is up there for one of the best experiences in my life! I have never been on a bourbon tour before. We were lucky and got to spend it with the brew master, and it was just my friend and I. He detailed out each step in one of the coolest historical buildings I've been in. We got unlimited questions, personal answers and just amazing expert level responses. I ended up spending way too much money and ordering one of a kind bottles to ship back to WI with me. I can't wait to tell all my friends about this, you HAVE to try the ONLY BOURBON made in BOURBON COUNTY!

Tyler and Austin were absolutely amazing! We did the distiller for a day tour and it was by far the best experience we have ever had. Everything felt personal and the bourbon was fantastic. Highly recommend!
