Our group stopped here while traveling and everyone agreed it was the best food we’ve had for awhile! Everything was fresh and delicious. The mac and cheese was to die for! It’s definitely worth a stop!

We had the pulled pork sandwiches. They were 4 to 5 inches tall, plenty of pork. The sauce was absolutely delicious. I was very pleased with the sandwich and the service. The young men were very friendly. I definitely recommend.

We got 4 of the smitty’s plates, the ribs were the star of the show but the pulled pork, catfish, and the kielbasa were all delicious and the Mac and cheese was rich. The baked beans converted a few of our group. The staff were so friendly and we can’t wait to come back next time we are in the area. Real food made by real people.

Really enjoyed our lunch - great food and customer service. It was a little smoky inside the restaurant when we were there from the smoker and bathroom has room for improvement, but a great meal.

Amazing food all around. I’ve had almost everything on the menu! Visit Richmond one week every year and come here at least twice that week for lunch. Best food in Richmond hands down. Thanks for always having the food ready Ms. Bonnie!

The food was absolutely delicious! We got a pulled pork sandwich, another specialty pulled pork sandwich, half rack ribs, and Mac n' cheese. It did not disappoint! We will be back even though we live 90 minutes away. Thanks for your hospitality!!!

Excellent food. Down home cooking that hits the spot. The slaw is to die for, and the catfish is the best!

I have seen this place multiple times driving by and always wanted to try it, and finally got the chance. I was excited to try it, but unfortunately it did not live up to expectations.
The food took a good 20 minutes to come out, didn't all come out at the same time, and we didn't even get our drinks until about 10 minutes after ordering. When I ordered a sweet tea I was expecting freshly brewed tea - - what I got was literally powdered tea mix which hadn't even been fully dissolved. My wife's lemonade also was nothing special. I got the pulled pork sandwich with cole slaw and a side of onion rings. The onion rings were good and crispy, but the batter wasn't seasoned. The pulled pork was decent, but nothing to write home about. My wife got pulled pork with fries, and my daughter and her friend got plain cheeseburgers with fries. It was a decent portion of lightly seasoned fries with a something like a Cajun mix, but some were crispy while others were kind of mushy, and no one finished their fries. My daughter said the burger was good.
As far as ambience goes, all of the smoke from the kitchen had permiated the eating area which burnt our eyes a little, and it was hot inside.
First impressions are everything. There might be delicious items on the menu, but I don't plan to go back to find out. The food isn't horrible and the owner and server were very nice, but I felt it was over-priced and I'll take my chances elsewhere with my hard-earned money.

We love discovering hidden gems while traveling, especially family-owned, mom-and-pop-style restaurants. Smitty’s Southern Style BBQ did not disappoint! Their pulled pork was tender and flavorful, the catfish was perfectly crispy, and the collard greens had that slow-cooked, comforting flavor you can’t fake. The homemade BBQ sauce added just the right kick, and the hush puppies were absolutely amazing—crispy on the outside, soft and savory inside. A true southern treasure!
