Brutally Honest

The Arroz con Pollo was served with a side of Papa a la huancaína along side the infused rice and chicken. The server explained it was topped with a hollandaise based sauce. He neglected to mention it was a cold side. When hollandaise was mentioned I declined to order the arroz con pollo. My friend ordered it.Imagine eating cold potatoes topped with what you think is hollandaise, but is actually a cheese based sauce made of queso fresco (fresh white cheese) and sautéed or grilled ají amarillo (yellow Peruvian pepper), red onion and garlic, all traditionally ground or pounded in a batánHe explained that sauce cannot be heated since it will separate and cause intestinal distress... huh? Since when are cheese dips served cold? (An inference to sauce base)Owner of restaurant CONTINUE READING about Hollandaise and educate your servers as there will be that one person who is highly allergic who will end up in anaphylaxis due to ignorance of food prep and ingredients or others who will miss out on your huancaina sauce because it is described as hollandaise and they are allergic to eggs.TRUE HOLLANDAISE IS COOKED AT LOW TEMPS TO PREVENT CURDLING. Beaten egg yolks are combined with butter, lemon juice, salt, and water, and heated gently while being mixed. Some cooks use a DOUBLE BOILER to control the temperature. Some recipes add melted butter to warmed yolks; others call for unmelted butter and the yolks to be heated together; still others combine warm butter and eggs in a blender or food processor. Temperature control is critical, as excessive temperature can curdle the sauce. Some chefs start with a reduction. The reduction consists of vinegar, water and cracked peppercorns. These ingredients are reduced to "au sec" or almost dry, strained, and added to the egg yolk mixture.5 stars to the chicken and rice, zero stars for the papa a la huancaina. I can recommend the salmon salad but it needs more seasoning

The inside was very clean and looks very well and put together! I love the food! I can’t get enough ? this restaurant needs more love with all of the nice staff and amazing cooking ?‍? it’s top tier especially their green sauce with the roots that look like fries, I can’t remember their name for the life of me but you need them as an appetizer, literally mouth watering. You should 100% come down and eat here, bring your family and don’t be mistaken it’s not Mexican it’s Peruvian so delish ???

The Best kept secret in Central Kentucky! Authentic Peruvian Cuisine prepared by a Family who Loves Their Heritage and It shows. My husband and I have eaten here a few times and are EXCITED at every plate we receive, a new one every visit. We plan on exploring every menu option and then do it all over again! If you're curious as to the spice or if it's the same as other so-called Latin Cuisine in the immediate area, ITS NOT! ITS BETTER! A taste of savory, sweet, sour, salty and Love in every bite. I mean it. You can absolutely taste the Love in every dish. This family prepares it all by hand, with all the quality of a Michelin Star Establishment. Try it, bring the family and come taste Peru for goodness sake! And don't forget to order a Pisco Sour, the restaurant's namesake. Mixology at its finest!Parking: There's always a parking spot waiting for you and your family and a table that has your name on it. Every single time my husband and I have eaten here, we've been treated like VIPsKid-friendliness: Picture it, Grandpa in the kitchen with Mama, cooking fabulous recipes handed down from generation to generation. A little one of not quite 3 years old plays hide and seek near the stack of highchairs with his young mother, pregnant with his younger sibling. Giggles are present, atmosphere is light and happy. Grandpa exits the kitchen to gather the youngster into his embrace for an honest to goodness "love you more" moment, just before sending him to his daddy (our server) for a heartfelt goodbye for the day. This is a Family Establishment through and through. To its absolute foundation and quality of service, atmosphere, business practices, and ultimately its success!

I ate there about six on a Tuesday. It was nice and quiet. The food was delicious. It was higher end than I expected for the price point. The Asian catfish ceviche was fantastic. The plating was nice. Everything about this place surprised me. It's very unique, well done, and comfortable for a place so unassuming. I'm from out of town, but I'll stop there anytime I'm in the area. Definitely worth going a little out of the way.
