Ice Cream Shop at the Red River Gorge General Store

Thank you to the amazing staff and manager for welcoming our group of students on a field trip! Not only were they lovely but the manager gave great suggestions on things to do when rain changed our hiking plans! Highly recommend stopping here to shop and enjoy a milkshake!

So many wonderful options, I almost couldn’t pick. I honestly wasn’t expecting so many options when we pulled up but there’s a treat for everyone to find something that they like! I had a single scoop of brownie batter ice cream and added chocolate syrup. It was honestly one of the best ice creams I ever had. I got mine to go, but there were plenty of picnic tables to sit at and enjoy your treat. I will recommend this place to anyone who is headed to Natural Bridge.

The young lady, although I didn’t get her name was so kind and quick. What a great example of an employee!

Awesome ice cream! Went with several of my friends after a 7.5mile hike and everyone positively LOVED their ice cream. I split the chocolate bomb explosion with a friend (imagine the world’s largest cake pop on ice cream with whip cream) and it was amazing. This is a walk up window attached to a shop but they do have some outdoor seating available. 10/10 delicious!

Great banana split, but my banana splits always had nuts sprinkled on top. ? The price was outrageous, but the split was great. Not worth $11, though. That's just ridiculous.

Parking: Parking is a lot awkward. Pay attention and drive like you have some sense. We don't like non-drivers on our roads. Don't end up in some shack deep in the woods listenin' to banjos play the last tune you'll ever hear. Have a great day.

They have A LOT to offer here, i didn’t buy any merchandise but they have extra little necessities as well just in case you forgot something from home. We did do the buy 4 get 2 free fudge and she was very patience in giving us free samples. They make it homemade so if you’re going anywhere for fudge i would spend the extra money to come here and get it rather than a place who gets it shipped in. We got the Reese’s Pieces, Twix (my favorite), Strawberry Cheesecake, Smores, Snicker. They look smaller but they are a thick sliver. Amazing, i wish i lived here to get more!

We had a fantastic experience at The Ice Cream Shop after a day of hiking in the beautiful Red River Gorge area. It's the perfect place to treat the kids, offering delicious dairy-free alternatives like cashew milk salted caramel and vanilla bean ice cream, which is great for those with dietary restrictions. They also have floats and sundaes as well as a variety of ice cream flavors like banana cream butterscotch, chocolate almond, coffee lover, cookies and cream, bourbon caramel sundae, and many more! I chose the butterfinger milkshake and it did not disappoint! Parking was a breeze, and there was ample seating to accommodate our family comfortably. The atmosphere was incredibly welcoming and family-friendly. Whether you're exploring the nearby Natural Bridge State Resort Park or just passing through Slade, this spot is a must-visit for ice cream lovers. Highly recommend!

Delicious after a hot and strenuous hike!

However, please note the different hours per day. While we were there on a Monday, they did close seemingly early (6pm) and there was two families that pulled in to get ice cream and did not know it was closed.

The price of the ice cream cones is awesome. I wasn’t impressed with flavor selection but that is a me issue. My boyfriend got the brown sundae. Considering the price we expected a little more. It’s just a brownie with a small swirl of soft serve with chocolate syrup, small dollop of whip cream and a cherry. Maybe they were running out of supplies. He did say it tasted good.
