It's Miguel's IYKYK

My first time in here and I heard about it from a mountain climbing friend of mine. On this visit it was raining and cold outside, but I imagine the outside area is plenty busy in the summer time. We drove about 3.5 hours to go backpacking in the area and stopped by here before we set up camp. They seemed to have lots of options for beverages and food. We got beers, a lemonade and a pepperoni pizza. All was good and it was nice to unwind a bit after the long drive. The inside dining area is roomy and we definitely had room to spread out. All the servers were friendly and made us feel like regulars. This is a great area to come play outside and you are sure to see like minded people in here.

So, this place is a cult classic. It's definitely a must visit especially if you're hiking or whatever. It's a historic spot. I've always wanted to go, but if you've ever been by, it's typically so crowded you can't walk in, let alone get a seat. It's a self serve type thing, walk up, order off the menu, go sit down with a number and they bring it to your table. They have beer and ice cream as well. Paper plates and plastic utensils are used and you can choose from soda in a can for drinks outside of beer. The ingredients were fresh and delicious - in the salad and in the pizza. That part I'd 100% give 5 stars. The crust was underdone in the middle and overdone on the outer part. It took about 30 minutes to get the salad then about another 10 to get the pizza. There's open seating, lunch table style, and it's so loud you can barely hold a conversation if you have a rude group of ladies sitting across the room that have the "only person in the world card" in their wallet. Everyone else talks louder and it's insanely loud. Next time, if we choose to eat there, we will be doing carry out. Price point wasn't bad. $50 for a large pizza with like 10 different toppings, 2 canned drinks, and 2 salads of a good size. I came back to edit my review. We came back two days later in morning to try the breakfast. Breakfast was delicious and so was the coffee and the service was much better. Atmosphere was better! The lady that took our order was very friendly and helpful! I added an extra star for that.

Fun atmosphere! It was a little difficult to figure out the food line, we accidentally cut line. Food was amazing. As with any outdoor venue, be prepared for bugs, especially bees looking for the sugary drinks.

Go to spot if you're in the Red

Miguel's is THE go-to restaurant at Red River Gorge. The pizzas are very customizable and they are generous with the toppings.

Miguel's pizza is pretty good! Lots of toppings, pretty fast for having 100's of people walk through the doors on Friday and Saturday nights. This is THE spot around the Gorge.

I thought the pizza was pretty good for being in Kentucky and having a ski-lodge-cafeteria kind of vibe. A full pie with 1 topping was about $15. Although I didn't get any, I liked that they had a freezer with various ice cream options including bars, sandwiches and pints.

We stopped in at Miguel's after hearing about how good their pizza was. After a long day of hiking at Red River Gorge, we were hungry. Pizza is sold in either a serving for 8 or 4 with $2 for each additional topping. My husband and I ordered an 8-serving pie with ham, garlic, Bell pepper, and mushrooms. Our daughter ordered a large pie with pineapple, ham, and bacon. She also ordered a $6 salad that was served with chopped romaine lettuce, shredded carrots, and chopped tomatoes. A little overpriced and tasteless. She chose a herbal dressing that tasted like a chili powdered-based dressing with olive oil. Our pizzas were flavorless. The colorless crust was underbaked and the pizza sauce tasted like canned tomato sauce. The pineapple topping added a nice liquid to our daughter's pizza and our group had difficulty keeping the topping from sliding off. Our daughter's salad dressing helped to add flavor to a flavorless pie. IMHO save your $$ and stop somewhere else. On a positive note, the outdoor seating was great.

Extremely popular pizza place. I always wondered if it was just the fact that it's the only pizza place around and that, since it's popular with rock climbers, if they were just hungry and anything seemed good. But we ordered carryout and we're certainly not rock climbing and it was still very good pizza. It was ready when we arrived at stated time despite them having a line that wrapped around the dining room and to the door. Line moved quickly and pizza was hot and very good quality. Highly recommend.

Service was excellent and efficient. Pizza topping options were vast and impressive! Pizza quality was maybe slightly above average. The sauce was too bland for my taste, so that was the biggest detractor for me.

Loved the outdoor seating. Pizza was pretty good. Just don't get the meatball sandwich. It was really just not good.

probably the worse pizza we've ever had. asked for sausage and a few others things. We've never had sausage that left such a horrible taste in our mouths. very light in color. certainly wasn't a good Italian sausage. Very disappointing!!

Miguel's is a cult classic. I can see why. You go for a hike in the red river gorge and then you need to be able to get nourishment and what perfect way to do that then with pizza. Miguel's is very unassuming. it is off the main road in Slaton Kentucky in a yellow building. The menu is extensive if your vegan don't worry. If you're vegetarian, don't worry. They have plenty of options. The prices are also very reasonable. We got a cheese pizza, eight slices $12. The pizza was yummy and tasty and the space to even have. This was excellent. We ate outdoors. Watch the kids play basketball and enjoyed our pizza. This was the perfect way to end a hike.

It's a local favorite for a reason. It'll take a while waiting in line to order and then waiting for your order to get to the table, but I found the entire experience worth it. The pizza was slightly overpriced, but was delicious once it arrived. We had a pepperoni and garlic pizza as well as a veggie one, both of which were devoured quickly after a long hike.
