I have eaten here once but not a fan of hamburgers cooked completely submerged in oil. You can have all the oil squeezed out of them?. I try to eat somewhat healthy, this is not the place for me.

Unique burger and worth trying. Kinda crumbly and crunchy, yum. On a motorcycle trip with friends, hope to visit again someday, it's a must stop.

Drove 4 hours to try this restaurant after watching TrueSouth. Arrived at the restaurant and a hand written note on the door that said, “Closed. Will be open in a little bit”. I met some very nice local folks as we all chatted while we waited for them to reopen. We were let inside after about 45 minutes of waiting. Unfortunately, the day I got there the restaurant was short staffed so my experience wasn’t the best. Talking with the locals and receiving advice from them about what to order definitely made the experience more pleasant. We found out the employees needed to temporarily close to pat more burgers for us before they could open again. I ordered my burgers and watched the man and woman flip the burgers thru the various pans while the wait staff prepared buns and condiments for the orders. The burger was decent but not an absolute destination burger. Because the restaurant was busy, didn’t have patties prepared, and short staffed I didn’t get anywhere near the experience that I watched on tv or read about in other reviews. I went on a Tuesday right before noon so I didn’t think I would hit peak hours. Overall the food was good and very reasonably priced, staff was nice even though understaffed, locals were absolutely awesome! I will stop here again to give it another try - but only if I’m in the area. I wouldn’t consider this a destination restaurant.
A friend of mine suggested that I try Dovie's when visiting Tompkinsville as it is a Tompkinsville staple to the area. It opened in 1940. I was glad it worked out to finally stop in. It was a great experience in every way! Staff were friendly, the restaurant was cute and clean, and the burger was super tasty, especially with the added egg. It was so good I ordered a second. Take note to check the hours because they are not open on Mondays and close at 3 p.m. on weekdays. Saturdays close at 2 p.m. and Sundays are not open. However, days that are open, open at 8:30 a.m. I look forward to returning again in the future and will be sharing with others about my memorable visit to Dovie's! Hope you stop in as you will not be disappointed!!!

I love dovies and I always will. I have been to Taco Bell and McDonald’s and seen so many gossiping people who don’t wash their hands after they come out of the bathroom but dovies crew is always clean. I love their burgers and hey if they don’t run out..they ain’t doin something right.

This place was very strange and sketchy as what looked like 2 crack heads sitting in the parking lot when we got there. The lady was somewhat nice but sniffling sick with what sounded like a sore throat and had no gloves on touching her face and hair when making our so called burgers (hence health issue). Not exactly the type of service expected from a so called restaurant and I have never had anyone ask me if we wanted our hamburgers squeezed as they were floating in a pan of grease. I wanted to leave instantly but didn't want to be rude so we got our food and then threw it away in a garbage can down the street. This place seems to be a real health hazard and very unhealthy for your own health as for cholesterol and nasty slimy grease (with extras hanging from the burger when being squeezed) looks so old that it has started to gel over. There is really no where to sit either. No tables just small counter and the building is not in good shape.

The burgers here are good just because they are different but today will be the last day I attempt to eat here!! I was stared down as I approached the door to the establishment and stopped by a lady with no smile or sorry to offer whatsoever when she informed me they were out of burgers once again.I travel almost an hour to stop in and get a burger that they are sooo well known for but they don't have any available with still 2hrs before the establishment closed. If you get the chance to eat the burgers here they are good no doubt but don't expect the southern hospitality you get from everywhere else unless your Jim bobs cousin and are locally known. The customer service is very bad and the employees are very rude and unwelcoming. Thank you TACO BELL for providing lunch today to a paying customer....I got a thank you at least!!
