Drove 4 hours to try this restaurant after watching TrueSouth. Arrived at the restaurant and a hand written note on the door that said, “Closed. Will be open in a little bit”. I met some very nice local folks as we all chatted while we waited for them to reopen. We were let inside after about 45 minutes of waiting. A friend of mine suggested that I try Dovie's when visiting Tompkinsville as it is a Tompkinsville staple to the area. It opened in 1940. I was glad it worked out to finally stop in. It was a great experience in every way! Staff were friendly, the restaurant was cute and clean, and the burger was super tasty, especially with the added egg. It was so good I ordered a second. Take note to check the hours because they are not open on Mondays and close at 3 p.m. on weekdays....read full review

I love dovies and I always will. I have been to Taco Bell and McDonald’s and seen so many gossiping people who don’t wash their hands after they come out of the bathroom but dovies crew is always clean. I love their burgers and hey if they don’t run out..they ain’t doin something right.
